Meet Daniel Fowler, Jr. of American Technologies in Fairburn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Fowler, Jr.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Daniel. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Since early on, I’ve always been involved in my current career. I’m talking since the toddler years; American Technologies was created by my parents in 1995 in Alexandria, Virginia. They started with manufacturing computers and networking offices to be competitive with the business boom. The vision my parents had was to create a legacy; They wanted to ensure that the future generations didn’t have the same struggle that they had. Hence, we started training early. My four older siblings we already well into the business by the time I was born. Building computers felt more like a family project rather than a corporate workspace. My first lesson came early with “righty tighty, lefty loosey” on computers.

As time progressed and the company’s services evolved, my upbringing was intertwined with business-ready skillsets. In between school sessions and everyday life, there were many chances to drill those in. From maintaining equipment to interfacing with customers, respect and integrity remained at the forefront at all times. Using these principles, I was well on my way for the career I hold today.

Now, I operate within American Technologies as (officially) a Brand Content Manager. Even with this as my title, being an entrepreneur allows me to wear many hats within the company. Videography, photography, post-production, website development, social media marketing, and everything in-between; Whatever it takes to bring your brand “Beyond the Cutting Edge”. We’ve worked with businesses like the Atlanta Business League, Coca-Cola, Google, and Patchwerk Recording Studios. Since we moved to Atlanta in 2001, we’ve strived to bring excellence to everyone we work with.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Not everything lasts forever.

In the year 2000, the computer market crashed. In response, the family headed south and landed in Georgia. We started to rebuild the computer business but quickly realized that Atlanta had a need for media presentations. In order to remain in business, my parents diversified into a full-service media branding firm. When my parents diversified, I didn’t always think that I’d enjoy it as much I did. At first glance, it was a lot to take in. Instead of having these family projects with building computers, now we were using cameras and going through tapes. Before PCs became what they were today, creating the presentations were a multi-faceted process that required lots of time and innovation to make up for the lack of software developed. The majority of the time taken was forging new pathways to creating exciting and informative videos while keeping the client satisfied.

Each time the client’s needs changed, the process developed even further, resulting in us pioneering an open market within the Atlanta community.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
A key value to the American Technologies brand is our full-service model.

Our departments work together seamlessly to efficiently produce every project. All of the American Technologies products and services work hand in hand with the development of your company brand and marketing image.

Our full-service model allows us to leverage core digital assets to multi mediums such as Live HD Media, Websites, Software Development, Design and TV Productions in one efficient process. This means one point of contact, a more efficient project schedule, and cost savings passed on to your organization. If I were to pick one, I’d say our specialization lies in Event Coverage and Media Production. During galas, conferences, and conventions, having our team on the ground provides our clients with high-quality footage, photos, and promos to drive to their investors and future attendees. Because not only I but my team is passionate about what we do, each project is handled with integrity and excellence.

What were you like growing up?
How I was growing up versus how I hold myself now is a stark contrast. Even with the strict upbringing and training, I still found time to be a bit of a trouble-maker. There were times I’ve damaged or broken equipment in my early years. Regardless, I was always interested in electronics and how they operated. It started with building computers but extended to the cameras, household items, and DIY kits. Combine that with being a heavy reader and that would sum up my early personality.

When I was 12, I had my first hands-on with a photo camera. That sparked a passion in photography nine years strong. I’m extremely invested in telling a story through the lens. Some adventures happen only once but can be captured for a lifetime with photos. My best example of that is when I traveled to Costa Rica and Panama City in 2015; It was my first time out of the country, but that trip held many new experiences that couldn’t be trusted to stand the test of memory. Solution: Take photos of everything.
