Today we’d like to introduce you to Daphne Jordan.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was a victim of a home invasion 3 years ago and I remember feeling violated and defenseless. I decided then, I’d never be a victim. I didn’t want to learn about guns on my own so I searched for Women’s Gun Clubs. I found the Well Armed Women, spearheaded by Carrie Lightfoot that has over 350 Chapters in the US, 14 Chapters in Georgia and they were excited to have me start the South Atlanta Chapter. For two years, I’ve volunteered and trained numerous women as the Chapter Leader for The Well Armed Women – South Atlanta Chapter. As a chapter leader, one must become a certified basic pistol instructor.
I became a certified basic pistol instructor and launched my firearms instruction company – Packing Pretty Firearms, LLC in 2017 to provide instruction for the novice woman. The gun club provides opportunities for women to receive ongoing training monthly during our chapter meetings. There’s a huge deficit for women to receive training catered specifically for women at gun ranges in particular. I developed the “New to Firearms Classes”, this is a four-hour class to teach women about the gun laws, gun safety, exposure to the gun range environment and etiquette, and practice shooting.
There are more than 300 women on the wait list for these classes. What’s also interesting is 95% of the women that attend my classes have never been to a gun range or have their conceal carry permit. I’m also a Range Safety Office as well as Certified to Teach Refuse to Be a Victim Classes. My goal is to help educate, equip, and empower women about lethal and non-lethal options to protect themselves.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
This has been a pretty smooth road but can be intimidating because it’s male-dominated. I was the only African American and the Only Female in my Certified Pistol Instructor’s class.

Packing Pretty Firerarms LLC specializes in firearms instruction for the novice woman. I also teach Situational Awareness Classes (Refuse to be a victim) to enhance women’s awareness. What I’m most proud of is I’ve helped numerous women determine which gun is best for them AND assisted them with purchasing their first gun. This includes accompanying them to Gun Shows, this is a great experience. 😉
Purchasing a gun is a very important step for some women, especially women that have been victims of domestic violence. What sets me apart from others is I’m very active in my community, often offer FREE classes to help educate the community on gun safety.
The partnership the Well Armed women formed with ChildSafe.org afforded me the ability to distribute FREE gun safes to parents and teach a FREE Gun Safety Class for kids. This was very well received by the community.
I’m also a Junior Mentor with Damsel in Defense, offering non-lethal products such as stun guns, pepper sprays and conceal carry bags for women to properly conceal and store their guns.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My future plans are to open my very own Gun Range and Instruction Academy. I’m also helping other women become certified pistol instructors, there are more women that are in need of instruction. I’d like to hire an all-female staff at my gun range as well.
