Today we’d like to introduce you to David Quiroz.
David, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve inherited the love for the arts from my Mom and my Dad, my dad was a bullfighter and my mom was a singer most of my childhood happened backstage during their performances. I started painting at a young age and by my early teens I had won a few awards.
I moved to Atlanta in the late nineties. I continued to pursue my artistic career trough different means and got involved in video production and fashion design; I won the national contest to design the uniforms of an international hotel chain and that lead me to interviews on TV; after talking to the producers they allowed me to produce my own TV show. I ended producing two weekly shows in the span of three years.
I started in photography to improve my composition skills, and just felt in love with it; people started asking me to photograph them so I just went with the flow and now I’m here.
I love everything that I’ve done and I’m proud of all of my accomplishments, but I can honestly say that nothing brings me more joy that feeling the camera and my hands, look through the view finder and press the button; the sound of the shutter is the most beautiful music to my ears.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It had its ups and downs like everything else.
There is so much more needed to be successful and by successful I mean accomplishing any goal you may have set for yourself at any point , Talent is 10% of the total the rest is hard work, I love it but it still hard work.
I suppose my biggest struggle was overcoming the doubt, believing in myself, making that leap of faith.
I left a stable financial situation to pursue my passion full time and there were times when I questioned myself whether I made the right decision or not. At the end you take a deep breath and keep pushing through, no one said it ‘be easy if anything the struggles just make it more interesting.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Navid Productions story. Tell us more about the business.
At Navid Productions we do photography and video production, we have to main branches. On one side we do photography and video for Weddings, Quinceañeras and special events. On the other side we do commercial video production, infomercials. TV commercials, commercial photography.
People come to us when they want something unique, something that will set them apart, whether it is the photos for their wedding or a commercial for their business we want to understand their vision and put that in to images that will express that unique vision.
I’m proud of the welcoming we’ve had so far, this is a very competitive business with lots of very talented people and we’ve been very fortunate to get recognition for our service so that makes me very proud of my team.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t believe in luck. There are opportunities presented throughout our daily life, when the moment arises you are either prepared or not. I believe in being kind and fare in business and life, in loving what I do and doing it to the very best of my abilities, that will get me further that any amount of luck I may have.
