Today we’d like to introduce you to Desiree Bailey.
Desiree, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started off by selling items on my Instagram page. These clothes were just clothes I couldn’t fit anymore or just clothes. I knew I was going to never wear. This was ultimately a success for me. All the clothes on my page were sold out. It even got to a point where people would ask to shop my closet or ask me to keep posting more with different sizes… I thought to myself, “wow. I could really take this and make this much bigger than just an “Instagram” post.
So, I began to think… I started this business, because I, myself, is totally infatuated with going into thrift stores and finding items that I know nobody else will have. It’s always a thrill to search through a bunch of clothes and end up finding that one piece that no one thought was attractive enough to keep.
Has it been a smooth road?
So far, this journey has been smooth. I’m learning the pros and cons of handling a thrift business. My only struggle is finding items that adhere to everybody’s style and figure, so I’m working on trying to find suppliers. It’s definitely a work in progress, but I wouldn’t change it for the world.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the DBStylingSpace story. Tell us more about the business.
DBStylingSpace is an online store that is filled with One of a Kind pieces that you can’t find anywhere else. It’s for the everyday teen and young adult to create a look that’s true to them. I’m very aware that NOBODY likes to go out and see somebody in the same outfit that they have on. My website puts that to a complete STOP!
DBStylingSpace is the fun and unique spot for style and thrifts that are expressive and unique for us women. You’re able to find something that you’ll like: Dresses, skirts, blouses, etc. All while paying an affordable price to look GOOD!
DBStylingSpace is different from other thrift stores and consignment shops because we don’t just sell random things. We actually take time and find items that are rare, different, and in perfect condition for our customers.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In the next 5-10 years, I plan on making DBStylingSpace much more bigger than just an online store. I actually want to open up a storefront for people to actually come to, to engage in the thrifting experience. I plan to offer more varieties of products from men’s clothing, accessories, handbags, and shoes. I want to make sure I hit every category in the market. I’m very positive about the future of DBStylingSpace because thrifting is becoming more and more dominant in today’s society.
