Today we’d like to introduce you to Destiny Green.
Destiny, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was always one of those kids who cut up their clothes or always wanting to add more designs to my clothes to give myself a different look, which led to me taking serious redesigning shoes, mostly sneakers, but occasionally sandals too. I started my first business Desichic my freshman year of high school in 2014. I started off creating custom fur slides and custom bling slides, which pushed me into custom converse. From full blinged sparkly converse to your favorite football team designs on converse to any accessories you wanted customized. Today now, I have two businesses. My second business is only a year old named Chiclashed, and eyelash extension service business. My passion with detail and patience for designing shoes swayed me to designing in the beauty world.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, it hasn’t, but any entrepreneur can vouch for that. Entrepreneurship takes a lot of patience, strength, and consistency. Most of my struggles were with consistency and strength, I wanted to give up when I couldn’t find new ways to grow my business when all I was lacking was consistency and the mindset that I had the strength to keep going. Another small struggle was my age. I was in high school trying to balance school work, social life, and business, which made feel like I had to prioritize what was important in that moment. I constantly reminded myself that I had a goal to reach, so giving up was not an option.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Desichicllc and Chiclashed – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Desichicllc is a custom accessories and custom shoe business. Desichic specializes in taking one simple product and giving it what would be considered a sparkly look. My second business Chiclashed is eyelash extensions service. Chiclashed specializes in classic, hybrid, and volume eyelash extensions sets. I’m mostly proud of my growth with both of my business and the relationships I have built with my clients between the two. I think one of the things that set me apart from others is my drive of creating, no matter what I venture off into I always find myself in some way of form creating and designing new things.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for the future is to combine both of my businesses and create a one-stop shop design center to mentor younger girls.
