Today we’d like to introduce you to Diane Wolff Bush.
Diane, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am the photographer behind the lens of In Focus Brand Photography and I’m thrilled to share my journey of growth and empowerment with you. My story has molded me into the person I am today and is the driving force behind my reason for working with others who share the same passion for life and purpose.
In 1999, I started my photography career, under the business name of Racing In Focus. By 2001, I was traveling the NASCAR circuit on a full-time basis, working as a member of the press, then for race teams, drivers, and sponsors. My images were published in national magazines and newspapers, as well as on marketing and public relations materials. I also had the opportunity to create autograph hero cards, driver uniform designs, and race car/truck paint schemes. This opportunity allowed for travel across our continent and a wealth of corporate marketing experience.
2006 called for settling back down to start a family. And, I found a way to turn those creative genes into something oh-so-delicious. Beyond Usual Cakes was founded, where I created high-end wedding cake works of art. This business gave me great passion for the small business entrepreneur and taught me the need and tools by which I would market myself and my business. I quickly learned that by letting my audience in on the personal side of me, the owner, as well as the business, it created a personal connection and loyalty. As far as photography – well, this gave me the opportunity to use my skills to tell the story of a product – start to finish and how it was used.
2017 came a life and business changing auto accident. No more cakes. So, what was I to do? I used my love of marketing small business in a unique way to produce, on a full-time basis, the ultimate in events – the My Unreal Wedding Expo, something I had started in 2015. Four vendors in each category, four mock-wedding settings to showcase the talents of the vendors, one huge event that would benefit both vendors and brides. And, of course, I tasked myself with producing and marketing the entire production. With five events now under my belt, the wheels are running smoothly! This business has given me the unique opportunity to work with hundreds of businesses each year, helping them target their niche market. I have had the joy of coaching businesses on the marketing of their brand, paying particular attention to their social media presence.
I have the God-given passion for photography – I never put the camera down. But, I also have an innate ability to see a business through the eyes of the end-user. So, in early 2019, I combined these two talents into creating In Focus Brand Photography.
Has it been a smooth road?
Struggles are something that just comes with business ownership. They produce the opportunity to learn, adapt, and grow. Without a doubt, I’ve seen my share of struggles along this journey. But, the one thing that made each transition easier has been the fact that, from the beginning, I have built my businesses around my own personal brand. I have always made sure I was front and center, the face everyone associated with my business. So, when it was time to pivot, it was simply a matter of retraining everyone about my new role. I was able to provide a description of my ideal client to my referral partners and easily make new strategic alliances, based on the fact that they already knew of my name and reputation. It is for that reason I have quickly built a new, successful business based on referrals and word-of-mouth.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
In Focus Brand Photography exclusively specializes in personal brand photography, with the focus on empowered women – entrepreneurs, business and community leaders, influencers, coaches, etc. I am so honored to provide a means by which women can grow their businesses and impact the lives of others. To assure we create the images that directly speak to and draw in your specific audience, we discuss and create a plan for telling your stories. Yes, everyone has multiple stories they need to share. Stories portray not only what you do but who you are – things you have in common and make you relatable – ways to connect and encourage someone to like, know, trust, and be loyal to you. I do have a hidden superpower which helps the process, though. And, that is being able to envision the images in my head, from the perspective of the ideal client or end-user. What would resonate with them? What would make them connect with that image? What would make them stop that finger scroll, look, react, and act? And, I’m like a proud mama when I see the beauty-ful images scroll across your feed and I hear the reports of game-changing results!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
In Focus has 2020 Vision while growing by leaps and bounds! I have discovered that the exclusive focus on branding photography is a valuable and highly sought after asset. So, due to continual requests, I have now added one travel week a month to various US locations. We also are in the midst of producing a branding course and membership, which fulfills my desire to help empower as many women as possible!
