Meet Doug Bailey of Master Painters of America in Metro Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Doug Bailey.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
After graduating from the University of Georgia, I started my professional career by honing my business skills with Gannett Communication, The Georgia Press Association and Ross Laboratories in a variety of management, marketing and sales positions. In 1986, a chance meeting led to a contract to rebrand a group of fledgling painting franchises. Two years later, I bought the businesses, consolidated and recreated Master Painters of America. Three decades later Master Painters of America is one of the most respected and trusted names in the painting industry.

Has it been a smooth road?
Obstacles and challenges exist in every business. Mine is no different. You deal with a multitude of differing personalities, scheduling issues, etc. You must adapt to the ever-changing business environment while maintaining your core values and business principles. You have to stay focused, disciplined and committed. I just choose to outwork my competition and provide my customers with a level of service that exceeds their expectations.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Master Painters of America – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
In 1986 Master Painters of America was formed to address the need for a more professional and businesslike approach to the painting industry. Two specific elements have been key to the success of our company. First, only the highest standard of craftsmanship and materials will be provided to our customers. Attention to details that most other painters are unaware of, or simply choose to ignore, is our basic service principle. Secondly, understanding the importance of quality operational practices as well as quality workmanship is a must for all successful projects. We realize and respect that our customers’ time is valuable. Therefore, we put the highest priority on specific schedules that fit their project needs from initial consultations to the final touch ups.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Atlanta is a great city full of history, charm, diversity and personality. I have been fortunate to work on dozens of historical homes representing Atlanta’s rich history. I have had the privilege to meet and work with dozens of Atlanta’s finest designers. However, the hundreds and hundreds of our customers over 30+ years has been the source of the greatest satisfaction. Many of them have become lifelong friends others have just provided a life time of stories.

The traffic is a no brainer for a dislike.
