Today we’d like to introduce you to Dwayne “DK” Kelly.
Dwayne “DK” Kelly’s love for music began in the 6th grade when he was asked to be in the band. When he played his first instrument, the trombone, he knew that music was the thing for him to do. “DK” has been making music for over 20 years now.
Being a producer, engineer, and songwriter are all labels he wears proudly… being a “Triple Threat” requires patience, dedication, and focus. Making music has taught him that every challenge is an opportunity to learn something new or add a fresh perspective to the creative process. His musical projects are a direct connection to his world, how he sees things, and what life is to him.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road for me. I believe everything you do takes time to develop. For me, getting artists and musicians to trust you with their “baby” which is their music is key. You also have to have a connection because if you don’t then it will come out in the music.
Being in Atlanta and having a recording studio that most artists aren’t familiar with yet is tough as well. More people are familiar and somewhat trust the larger well-known studios that have created a name for themselves in the music industry.

What I like best about our city is that there’s so much opportunity in the entertainment industry. Many major movies are being shot here. Music is and has been thriving in our city for years now. What I like least about our city is the traffic, of course!
