Today we’d like to introduce you to Isaiah Gill.
Isaiah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I always had a thing for photography. You could always catch me taking pictures on my iPhone, especially when it came to nature. Nature was the main reason I got into photography. I love how I could play with angles and give you a more In-Depth look at the true beauty of what I was capturing. One day I decided to get a camera to keep my hobby going. Two years later, I’m in two cameras deep and working to make my photography a career. I’ve gone from taking nature pictures to taking pictures of people.
Has it been a smooth road?
Smooth? I haven’t experienced smooth road yet lol. I could go on and on about what I encountered, but the main struggle I can say I’ve experienced was believing in myself. When it comes to that, that can throw off your whole dream and goal.
What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future would be to learn more about photography, perfect my craft, and network to get my work out there. I am looking forward so many things when it comes to my future, from working with celebrities to becoming a published photographer.
Let’s go backward a bit – can you tell us about the most trying time in your career?
One of the hardest parts was interacting with people I’ve never really been a people person or good at communicating. So reaching out to ask someone to work with, then having to come up with concepts and directing them during the shoot. I use to only shoot nature and animals. So to me stepping out my comfort zone and shooting people was a big step for me.
Do you ever feel like “Wow, I’ve arrived” or “I’ve made it” or do you feel like the bulk of the story is still unwritten?
Each time someone posts my work that I did for them, or they say they love it is a wow moment for me. I get the joy of people liking my work and makes me want to work harder jus so I can get that feeling. My career is not where it’s at yet, but it’s slowly getting there. So I’m jus doing what I have to do to keep pushing forward to it reaching it.
