Today we’d like to introduce you to Elysia Young-Dopson.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I grew up in Miami, Florida. I was raised by the most amazing parents my mother was a counselor and my father was a pediatrician. They always emphasized the importance of education and being your own boss. However, I did hit a roadblock when I became a single mother at the age of 18, and that is what really motivated me to work extremely hard so I could provide the best lifestyle for my daughter. I relocated to Atlanta after I finished obtaining my degree from The University of Florida. I had jobs in teaching, law enforcement and I currently also work in the government but even with these amazing jobs, I felt unfulfilled. I have always loved fashion, styling, creating, and make people feel good about themselves while making them look good with my glamorous accessories and custom designs. I created Glamorous Anjewelz for the woman that dares to be different. I wanted to promote self-confidence and embracing your individuality. I know as a woman I have had my own struggles with self-esteem. It always brightens my day when my customer tells me that they received so many compliments with my jewelry and accessories. I am told by all my customers they feel so beautiful with my pieces from Glamorous Anjewelz.
Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely was a bumpy road at first. Balancing being a mother, wife, working a full-time job and being an entrepreneur all at once was extremely tough. However, I made some changes and my business has been running a lot smoother. The grand open for our physical location will be on Dec. 7th and I am so excited. I have made so many wonderful connections through my business. My customers are family to me.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Glamorous Anjewelz story. Tell us more about the business.
Glamorous Anjewelz specializes in statement jewelry and accessories for the woman that dares to be different. We promote self-confidence while embracing your individuality. I always tell my customers to be you, be different that’s what sets you apart from everyone else. I am known as the Glam Guru. I know when I would participate in vending event people would be so mesmerized by my jewelry and accessories because of the “Glam”. I am proud of the impact my business has made on so many individuals, just for them to tell me they felt so amazing wearing my pieces makes me ecstatic. I have had the privilege of having celebrity clientele. What sets Glamorous Anjewelz apart is that I have quality products at an affordable price. I have a lot of one of a kind hand made designs that you will not find anywhere else
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see my business blooming. I hope to have stores all over the world. My first physical location will be opening on December 7th. I am so excited. I will be offering jewelry making classes as well since I have been getting so many requests.
