Today we’d like to introduce you to Eve J.
Eve, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
As a child, about 4 or 5 years of age, I would fold white printer paper into the formation of a book then staple the sides together. I would absentmindedly create stories in my mind then write the stories on the pages with the inclusion of my own hand-drawn pictures. I of course carried this writing bug inside of me for years to come by writing stories and poems well into my collegiate years.
As time progressed, I decided that I wanted others to read the stories that I’d been harboring by becoming a self-published author in 2017. As of 2019, I currently have four published books that have been internationally sold. As cliche as it sounds, I didn’t choose to become an author but the destiny to become an author definitely chose me.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. The term “starving artist” is a super real thing because society as a whole doesn’t necessarily see the importance of art and thinks it should be consumed for free. Also, the population of people who constantly consume books is a relatively small percentage and the genre I choose to write makes that small population even smaller so it can be difficult to capture a large, steady audience. I’m also self-published which means that I have to do everything on my own from writing to editing to searching for book designers to keeping up with the finances, to publicizing, day in and day out. But ultimately, it’s a beautiful journey.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a self-published author. I’m proud of the authenticity that goes into creating my stories. What sets me apart from others in my field is that I don’t stick to one genre. I typically mix so many genres together that I end up forming my own niche, which people seem to relate to on a very real and honest level.
