Today we’d like to introduce you to Faven Ressom.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I ventured into nightlife in 2001 as a way to make extra spending money and pay for college. I started off working the doors and fast forward 21 years later and I’m officially a serial entrepreneur as restaurant/lounge owner with a 2nd spot on the way with a few other ventures in-between.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey has been far from smooth. As an immigrant who came to the states at the age of seven, I did not have a blueprint for the different stages of life. I had to literally learn everything through trial and error, and let’s just say there were a lot of errors.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a serial entrepreneur who owns, among other companies, Faved Events, which hosts some of the most popular events in Atlanta — from weekly nightlife events to food festivals as well as social and corporate events.
I have also developed other arms of my business, including Whisky Mistress, a restaurant/lounge in the heart of Buckhead, a production company, a non-profit organization that aids immigrant and first-generation Americans and will soon be opening a day & evening social house in the heart of downtown Atlanta.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Luck and timing have both been very instrumental in my success, but I def had to bust my butt to get to where I am. There were times I wanted to reach a level I was not ready for, however those moments and desires served as inspiration and lots of lessons. I am a believer that the good, bad and ugly are all a part of our journey and that is what keeps me going. I do not get discouraged to lose hope when things don’t work out as I planned or envisioned. Go back to the drawing board and get to work.
