Meet Felicia Fencl of The Collective Shine Agency in Douglasville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Felicia Fencl.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born and raised in Norfolk, VA.  After high school and a year of college, I joined the United States Air Force.  After 22 years serving on active duty, I retired in 2016 and decided that it would be a waste not to use the skills I learned while serving. I took those experiences and my vast skill set and partnered with my good friend, Tamara Smith, to create The Collective Shine Agency; a full-service public relations and event management firm. Having already owned a boutique travel agency, First Choice Travel Group, since 2004; this venture was sort of a third career for me.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As somewhat of a serial entrepreneur, I have encountered an abundance of obstacles and challenges with each endeavor I’ve taken on. The biggest one this go around, was learning how to adapt to the way Corporate America operates. Although I have had my share of experiences with the public sector in my previous career; this time was totally different than what I was used to, having worked with the federal government for as long as I had. Although I faced an uncomfortable shift at times, the rewards have been plentiful and well worth it, I must admit. Without challenges such as this, I would not have been able to continuously learn and apply those invaluable skills that I now have.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about The Collective Shine Agency – what should we know?
Our company, The Collective Shine Agency is a full-service public relations and event management firm that represents talent in the beauty, entertainment, sports and lifestyle industries. We operate two offices; one in Atlanta and the other in Phoenix. As the Senior Publicist, I pitch our clients’ products and services to media and mainstream platforms in which I think will benefit them long term. I specialize in securing corporate sponsorships and initiating product placements. Having served in the military and placed in positions that forced me to forward think, negotiate and close the loop on deals; I am proactive and intentional when working for my clients. Our accomplishments this year speak volumes! I have propelled our clients to platforms that will continue to broaden their reach and help garner them great success in the future. I have curated partnerships and forged relationships that will surely produce winning outcomes. Our goal is simple…make our clients shine!

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I would not be where I am without the love, support and encouragement I receive daily from my family, circle of friends and of course; my business partner and our clients. A praying grandmother and my mother’s legacy most definitely deserves credit! My tribe keeps me grounded, humble and continuously reaching for the stars. And for each of them, I am eternally grateful. I love them immensely and hope I make them proud!
