Meet Gabrielle Walker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabrielle Walker.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Gabrielle. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My passion and love for modeling began around the age of nine when I participated in my very first fashion show in my hometown, Augusta, Georgia. While participating in the fashion show, there were older women who participated who I would look up to. I continued to model with the same company for about three years. After I got old enough to make my own decisions about modeling, I started looking for different modeling opportunities and ended up finding a model call on Instagram where I gained more modeling experience. From that opportunity, I was able to network and meet one of the head models from a local HBCU in Augusta. At the age of 15, I modeled with the HBCU for two of their fashion shows. Throughout my high school years, I continued to take advantage of different modeling opportunities; runway and print modeling. My focus in high school was costume design where I would make different articles of clothing for our high school shows and clothes for myself. After graduating from high school, I immediately found a modeling program at the college I attend now, Georgia State. I always dreamed to be a big-time runway model in Atlanta, so ever since I moved to Atlanta, I have been looking for opportunities to expand my goal in life. Being at Georgia State apart of the modeling organization Infinite Appeal has brought me many opportunities and I will continue to take advantage and look for opportunities to reach my goal.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. There have been times where I’ve felt discouraged because the modeling agencies I was interested in wanted someone who was taller than me. I also have felt discouraged because after moving to Atlanta it seemed as if everyone wanted to be a model and there were so many people who were so much better than me or looked better than I did. Another obstacle I’ve faced is trying to network in a completely new city to get my name out there to other models, photographers, and agencies

Gabrielle – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am currently moving single and looking to join an agency.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment was being apart of the Infinite Appeal fashion show because I was able to model local designer’s clothing and the experience felt so real.
