Today we’d like to introduce you to Gnarly Marley.
Gnarly, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Started off ass a dancer….that was my first love. I used to go to skating rinks like Golden Glide and All American to practice my moves and battle until the crank-dat era. Then I started secretly writing poems and turning them into raps when I heard 1999 by Joey Badass in ISS my freshman year. That project changed my life. After that, I dived really deep into the origins of hip-hop and devoted myself to being a student of the game. Stacked my raps for years and hid behind the sports I played in school until I gained the confidence I needed as an artist. I got redshirted my senior year for football which led to a deep depression. I was lost in the sauce until I realized what was left inside of me. The music. So I went to work. Working at different studios and with different engineers to find my sound. That’s when I met Pia (IG: @mrpiaclassics). First day he heard me rap he pulled me and my homie Swank (IG @1dankistan) aside and asked us to do a tape and that’s when I found a studio to call home. Ever since we’ve been locked in and more focused than ever.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We all have to go through trials and tribulations as creatives. The biggest challenge for me is unlearning how to be a perfectionist. I hoard hella music…
Zones 247 – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is having power to create change. Success is moving your mom out the hood. Giving back to your community. Upgrading your lifestyle and the ones around you. I plan on doing all of that in no particular order.
