Meet Heather Dean Frost and David Pippin of Sage and Cedar Real Estate in Intown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Dean Frost and David Pippin.

Heather and David, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
David and I met while working on another team based out of East Atlanta. We connected instantly. We have similar styles when it comes to taking care of our clients and how we run our businesses. David made a couple of moves over the past two years and when he came back to our brokerage, we decided to collaborate and build something more than just a Real Estate team. Our team would buck the idea of a Real Estate agent being stuffy, pushy, or cheesy. We also wanted to have the opportunity to give back as much as possible. As a woman and LGBTQ+ owned business, we made a commitment. For this to be a successful venture, we have to advocate for our clients, speak up when someone is acting outside of equal housing laws, and to give back as much as possible to make sure the industry that keeps a roof over our heads also keeps one over the people it has wronged for so many years.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We starting building on team in mid-January and had met with our graphic designer. Things were moving along at a brisk pace! Everyone was very excited. By late march, we had decided to push the launch date to late June because COVID didn’t seem to be easing up. Instead of continuing to push the date, we decided to launch virtually. Our first week out, we hit the ground running with four new listings and haven’t looked back. We still plan on throwing a big launch party when we can host our friends and clients safely, Until then, we are doing our best to be as present as possible on social media.

Sage and Cedar Real Estate – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We took our time in deciding what we wanted our company to say about us. Sage and Cedar is more than just a Real Estate team. We help buyers, sellers, we stage, and we coach/mentor. The S&C name came from the idea of home being a welcoming place as well as the notion of a sage as a guide. We are both educators as well. As much as we love working with our clients, we also enjoy working with other agents. We are both very lucky to have worked with some amazing people with a great wealth of knowledge. Passing that knowledge on is definitely a passion of ours.

When meeting with our clients, we make sure they understand that we are not just here to sell them a home; we are here to help them start their next chapter. Sitting down at the closing table is just the beginning of our relationship. They come to our homes, we know their kids, they become part of the Sage and Cedar family.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success for us means focusing on our clients and their needs. Before we even step foot in a home with a buyer, we take them through the process and answer any questions they have. Knowing what to expect beforehand puts them in the driver’s seat. Buying a home is a complicated process with a lot of moving pieces. Having our buyers feel in control and informed is priceless.

When working with our sellers, it’s all about helping them keep their fingers on the pulse of the market. We will never tell a seller to list if it doesn’t make sense for them. We also would never overprice a home, just to get a listing. S&C agents are honest, straightforward, humble, and knowledgeable. Building a reputation as such in the Atlanta market with our clients and other agents is paramount for our business.
