Today we’d like to introduce you to Iroko Anyogu.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Iroko. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
When I was in high school, I never really knew what I wanted to do. I thought Basketball was the way. Until I went into drama class just to drop off some papers. All of my classmates always told me that I was extra with everything I did and that I should be an actor, so I took it upon myself to try it out. Boom loved it!
I graduated early from high school and went straight to college the following semester, at Georgia State University. I didn’t really have anyone to hang out with around campus. Not to mention the fact that I was majoring in something I had no interest in. I looked forward to going to my theater class every other day. From there I went into 100% actor mode, looking up acting articles, reading actings books, researching the greats, and just practicing on my own.
I was blessed to run into Imagine World Studios, an acting studio that held affordable acting classes on Sunday’s. From there, I met so many incredible people that turned into my acting crew. We as a unit started to go to this other Incredible and affordable acting class, The Booking Room ATL. Over time, I started to build relationships with the acting community here in Atlanta. So, when directors needed actors for their film, I was one of their top actors to call.
One day, I got a call to be a leader in this Web series. This would be my first real lead role so I was excited! After the wrapping of the web series, I was lucky enough to meet this amazing actor on set that sent me an audition for a role for a production company named Original TV. I went and was booked on the spot! After the wrapping of that film, I was blessed enough to gain two amazing managers from the experience.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The main struggle is to stay consistent and not give up. I always tell people to never give up because you never know how close you are to your goal and if you give up you can no longer go any further then where you are. Another struggle is trying to weed out all the negativity. The “Are you sure you want to be an actor?” “Do you know how many people want to be actors?” Blahh Blahh Blahh.
Positivity is the key to life!
Please tell us more about your business, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
As for my business, I have alternate names.
Iroko Anyogu = Actor
Azikiwe = Fashion stylist
I’m most proud of the fact that I can show people mainly the younger generation that whatever you put your mind to you can accomplish. What sets me apart is the fact that I am doing what I love to show and inspire the younger generation to strive and dream high!!!
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I would never call anything that has to happen in my life luck.
I believe in manifestation. when you believe in something you say it so the world can hear it, you do all that you can to expose yourself to what it is that you want. so when those “lucky” opportunities come across your desk they are of no surprise.
