Meet Isaiah Hill

Today we’d like to introduce you to Isaiah Hill.

Isaiah, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Growing up in Atlanta, I got my start playing music at the age of six years old. My grandad bought my sister a keyboard and bought me a bike for Christmas and in true sibling fashion, we gravitated toward each other’s gift thinking that it was the better one. When I got the keyboard, I started playing by ear and that’s when I knew music was going to be my thing. I started taking music seriously in high school when I joined the jazz band. Thanks to William Oliver customizing a curriculum for me to follow and Quentin Goins, supporting me, they made sure I was ready for my collegiate studies. I attended Berklee College of Music for two years and this is where I met life long friends and made amazing connections. My musical vocabulary expanded tenfold just from the first few weeks of being there. This is also where I brushed up on my business skills which propelled me to start my own business, Loops Nation. Since then, I’ve played for artists such as Monica, Tamar Braxton, Major, Lyric Rachae and many more local Atlanta artists.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
With any career/occupation, the road will not always be smooth but its the journey that makes it worthwhile. I’ve faced many adversities and challenges but the main one that I and many other creatives have and are currently struggling with is comparison. With technology and social media being at the center of most of our lives, it’s easy to want to compare yourself to someone you look up to or even your peers as a gauge to see if you’re on the right track.

Being a creative/entrepreneur, there is no rule book explaining the right and wrong way to run your brand. It’s up to each individual to figure out the best course of action for themselves. I had to come to this realization after a long season of constant comparison and not feeling like I’m living up to peoples expectations.

Many producers don’t have access to musicians or are capable of playing the instruments that they hear in their head. Loops Nation is the solution to the problem. We are going to expand to drums, guitar, and bass in the near future to bring that live sound into the studio!

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I wouldn’t do anything differently. God put me through everything for a reason and I don’t want to alter his course of action.
