Meet Isaiah McClymont

Today we’d like to introduce you to Isaiah McClymont.

Hi Isaiah, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I perform as Izayuh. I started making music in high school as a way to cope with depression and anxiety. It’s been a long road but eventually, I gained confidence in what my music could do for others. I try to be the light in the darkness. I’ve been making music professionally for about four years now and in that time I’ve grown a lot as an artist. I’m currently a recording and mixing engineer. I also handle the production on my projects. I’ve been able to branch out from Sacramento to the rest of California and currently am making a name for myself around the U.S. I work pretty closely with an amazing artist/producer in East Atlanta named ariesfoolmoon. Her and I are currently working on really creating a pipeline of talent from Atlanta to Sacramento and vice versa.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road I’m on is a difficult one for us all. There are many pitfalls but the two largest ones are probably myself and the trappings of an industry that just kind of wants you to do what everyone else is doing. I can be very in my head about how I can best send my message out and with that a lot of vices and “shortcuts” come my way. I’ve learned though that there are no shortcuts and that things will reach people when it’s time. I refuse to fit into trends; I want to make the trends.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I make alternative HipHop/RnB. I’m probably best known for my single Twin Flame that I released last year. It’s an honest exploration of the intense connections we can make with others; Platonically and romantically. I’m most proud of my developing stage presence. I love having a crowd in front of me and just being able to lift up everyone. I’m here to not only entertain but lift the consciousness of anyone willing to listen. I’d say what sets me apart is my approach to music. I don’t try to make big splashes; I just let the music speak for itself and go person to person

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe in luck. I believe in timing. I believe what ever is for you will come if you stay focused.
