Meet Jacinta Adams of RareSpice in Metro Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacinta Adams.

Jacinta, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m 37, born and raised in Decatur, GA. A mother of two beautiful daughters. (Jya & Morgan). I’ve worked in corporate America since I was 16 years. In 2008, I attended Professional Bartending School for fun! I only used the skill for a short period of time. In April of 2017, I started RareSpice Mobile Bartending. At that time, I was working at Northside Hospital and bartending private events on the weekend. Every day, I would cry thinking of a way that I could work for myself. In November 2017, my dad passed away and I knew then, that I didn’t want to continue not living out my dreams. On March 2, 2018, I decided to step out of my faith and live a dream of becoming my own Girl Boss! I walked away from my full time job to give my all to RareSpice. And I did just that! I’ve always loved to entertain people so why not do what you love?At the moment, RareSpice flourish! We are just not a mobile bartending company. We also offer servers, cocktail waiters, beverage catering, mixology training classes and our signature cocktails for any theme event. Our goal is to make sure every client and guest have a RareSpice experience.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Nothing comes easy. There was been many ups and downs, but being your own BOSS there will always be challenges. Starting my own business has been the best feeling in the world. In the beginning, I didn’t have many bartending gigs, so I made signature drinks in plastic bottles and sold them on the weekends. One of my kickball sisters was looking for a bartender for her upcoming birthday party and I sent her a message on facebook and she hired me for the gig. That geared me up to get back on my grind. In January of 2017, I started booking parties twice a month. I started promoting my business on social media. As of today, 85% of my business comes from social media. I got my logo and from there I started to network & advertise on all social media outlets to get my name out in the community.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the RareSpice story. Tell us more about the business.
RareSpice is beverage catering/bartending service company for private and public events. No event is too big or too small. I have been a certified bartender for 9 years. Currently, I have on call bartenders to work as needed. Every event is customized to each client needs. I create a list of cocktails for the client theme, colors and favorite taste. At the end of each event, I want my clients and their guest feel special and to love their bartender.

It’s an amazing feeling to be the proud owner of an up and coming business! I didn’t give up, I didn’t let the naysayers discourage me. It’s not easy but it’s worth everything. I love being able to make my own schedule, network with other entrepreneurs, and entertain all of the clients with my smile. Hearing that I was referred to you by another client makes me feel loved and that the drinks were amazing. It brings joy to my heart.

I’m always networking, reaching out to event planners and venues offering my services. Thinking outside of the box, leaving business cards everywhere I can from hair salons, nail shops, spirit stores and event venues Finding ways to connect with future clients. No matter where I go, RareSpice will be mention. Over the past few months, I have met some amazing people who have all encouraged me. I know that one day my business and brand will be on top of the world. All because I believe in my dream!

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck has played a major! A year and a half ago, there’s no way that anyone would have told me, that I would be a Girl Boss! I would have been like not me. I am thankful for every opportunity that comes my way.

In life, I haven’t always had good luck. I was a teenage mother at the age of 16. I finished high school. Went on to complete Medical Assistance school. Have held down a good job for the past 18 years. Now, my daughter is attending Alabama A & M and an honor roll student.

We have had our ups and downs but the future is looking bright. My mother never stops praying for me, no matter what the situation is. I am not where I want to be, but I am on the road to GREATNESS!
