Today we’d like to introduce you to Janet Hammond.
Janet, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I grew up in Honea Path, SC where I was the only girl who was tall. My mama always told me that I can be a model because of my height. I had started being in fashion shows back in 2017.
Back in 2018, I was going to model calls for agency in Atlanta, GA. It’s hard being 6’2 and nobody wants to sign me. I worked hard to build confidence even though they don’t want me. Til this day I know an agency in New York would want my height.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been struggles because no model agencies in Atlanta wants to sign me. They all prefer short models. I’ve been to many agencies here and they were rude to me. I just don’t understand.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a freelance model who wants to tell the world never give up on your dreams and to have thick skin. I want to show people my height and personality.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Having confidence and enjoying life.
