Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Hood.
Jasmine, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always been in the healthcare field since I graduated from high school in 2011. I started as a certified nursing assistant (CNA), going to USC-Upstate for my nursing degree. Two years in I decided that’s not what I wanted to do or how I wanted to help others. So I took some time off to figure out which way I wanted to do. Deciding between being a physical therapist, occupational therapist, radiologist, etc. So while I’m deciding what I wanted to do I kept my job as a CNA and was a bartender. In 2017 I decided to move to Atlanta stepping out on faith to expand my modeling career. I no longer did CNA work, I still was Bartending and of course, did some ubering to make some money. After being in Atlanta for a year I was ready to start focusing on my future and do what I love to do. August 2018 I started Atlanta School of Massage (ASM) and I graduated in April 2019. I currently work at a spa and on my own being mobile.
Has it been a smooth road?
No, the road hasn’t been smooth because of me doing some modeling in the past, some people don’t see the business side of me. They see this “fun girl” that likes to turn up. So I’m pretty much just letting my work speak for itself. Eventually, the ones that don’t see how good I am at what I do will catch on and won’t be able to book me. I’m just thankful for my friends and family that still show love and support be back in S.C. It’s mainly strangers that become my clients here in Atlanta.
Tell us more about the business.
Blessing bodies is what I decided to call my business because I like to make people aware of their bodies. You only get one so why not treat it right and actually listen to it.
I’m heavy handed so I specialize in deep tissue and sports massage. I love working with people with areas that are bothering them and actually trying to work out the kinks. No, I don’t fix people but I can help. So whenever you get a massage by me you’ve officially been #BlessedByHood💆🏽♀️
I’m proud of my work speaks for itself and my clients that refer me to other people. I think what sets me apart is I actually connect with my clients and make them feel comfortable, because who doesn’t want to be comfortable in their own home. That’s the best part of an I home massage.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In the next five to ten years, I think I may have my own spa. Right now I’m just looking at having my own space to do massages out of in the next year. But In the next five, I do plan on selling products to help with their bodies.
