Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Butler.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jason. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started reading personal finance blogs in late 2011/ early 2012. At that time of my life, my finances were not the greatest. I was living check to check and not current with all my debts. Reading different personal finance blogs piqued my interest. One thing that I noticed was that I didn’t see many people that look like me with a PF blog.
After a year or so reading other blogs, I decided to start mine. The Butler Journal (Original name of my blog) was started in March 2013. I created it to discuss what I learned about personal finance, travel tips, and to share my up and down journey. I was in a lot of debt and I wanted to give people hope.
I’ll be the first to tell you that I bullsh*tted the first two years with my site. The content was horrible and I was all over the place. I started to get a groove in 2015. Since then it’s been growing. I discuss more side hustle topics on there including eBay (I opened an eBay store last year) and Teespring. I also changed the name of my website to My Money Chronicles.
Has it been a smooth road?
Hell nah. It hasn’t been smooth. It took me two years to get serious about blogging. Also, my debt journey has been up and down. I was making strides and then my car went out on me last summer. I had to get a new, used vehicle. I added $8000 more to my debt. The good thing is that I’m working hard to eliminate the new car note as well as my other debt.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with My Money Chronicles – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
The official name of my business is Butler Industries. My website and my eBay store fall up under it. I help people get their finances in order with the help of a side hustle. I’m known as the eBay hustler. I’m most proud of providing value to people. What sets me apart from others is that I keep it real. I discuss my ups and downs monthly on my website. I let my readers know that they can make things happen if they work hard and have discipline.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the fact that there are a lot of successful business owners in Atlanta. I hate that the city doesn’t have the old feeling to it anymore. We used to be the city that was too busy to hate. Now, I’m not so sure.
