Meet Jay Kemp of Amour Kicks in Birmingham

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jay Kemp.

Jay, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve always had a love for sneakers. From the age of about 15, I started collecting Nike and Jordan’s. Over the years, my personal collection kept growing and growing. In between copping new pairs, I would sometimes sell my older pairs or pairs I didn’t wear as often. As time went on, I started to buy, sell, and trade a lot more consistently. Eventually, I wanted to share my love for sneakers with others and start my own brand, which is how Amour Kicks was founded.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The hardest part so far has been to keep a steady amount of inventory. Ever since I started the business, the support has been great, and the demand has been very high. Hundreds of dm’s regarding shoe-related questions. In the early stages, I also had to go through a rebranding due to some unfortunate obstacles with a previous business partner. Overall, I’m still so thankful for the journey.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Amour Kicks – what should we know?
I think what separates us from others is the level of integrity that we treat our customers with. Because everything on our store is purchased online, building a level of trust that people can have faith in that they’re able to constantly purchase authentic shoes is huge. So far, I’m proud of the fact that we are able to price our sneakers competitively in the market in order to give our customers the best prices while also making profits.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I give all the credit to God. He continues to lead and guide me every step of the way. Because of that, my eyes continue to stay open for new doors and pathways of blessings.
