Jean, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve always been compelled to create a business model that helps young girls embody a high pedigree of self-confidence and a deep-rooted understanding that beauty is only skin deep. True beauty shines from within. For several years, I envisioned Dazzle Me Parties but naturally my immediate focus centered on my husband and children causing my dreams to take a backseat. After much soul-searching, I came to the realization, “Dreams don’t work unless you do,” – it was now or never. I became focused and more determined than ever to succeed. In the beginning, balancing family and business wasn’t easy but through trial and error, my family and I were able to make the impossible, possible. My family has also proven to be the most amazing support system. As we approach our two year anniversary, the foundation of our success is contributed to hard work, dedication and consistency. It’s been an emotional journey but definitely worth the ride.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, to say the least. With any small business, there are always obstacles and challenges such as building a strong team, sustaining customer loyalty and creating brand recognition. There are times when business is non-stop with back-to back events and there are times on the opposite end of that spectrum where business is extremely slow. Although, having a rocky period is not ideal, it is a time to self-reflect, brainstorm new ideas, and analyze marketing tactics to ensure I’m not missing the mark when it comes to acquiring new business and staying connected with our clientele. I will admit, one of the biggest challenges I am working through is learning when to accept help and when to step away from business and enter into self-care mode.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Dazzle Me Parties – what should we know?
Dazzle Me Parties is a one-of-a-kind children’s spa and party planning venture, specializing in primping and pampering young girls and teens to look and feel their absolute best! We are known for being experts in the field, providing 5-star service and creating special memories for your little princess. A few of the services we offer are mini manicures and pedicures, yummy facials, cooking sessions, cupcake decorating, and fun makeup tutorials.

As a company, I am most proud of the opportunities we have to empower young girls and teach them tangible skillets they normally wouldn’t be privy to during a birthday party or spa session such as table etiquette and youth girl talks featuring a host of influential panelists. This also helps set us apart from others and serves as a catalyst to our mantra of paying it forward. Our philanthropic efforts include partnering with Dr. Jackie Walters, star of Bravo’s hit show, Married to Medicine, for a toy drive to benefit children whose mothers have been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
The city of Atlanta encompasses a wide range of amazing women entrepreneurs who are willing to lend a helping hand and offer support when needed.

My family and close friends have played an important role in my entrepreneurial journey as well because being your own boss has its ups and downs.

Sometimes, I need to hear those words of encouragement or receive that extra push to keep me moving in the right direction. Having a wonderful team behind me plays a significant role also in the success of the Dazzle Me brand. There is no “I” in team and the Dazzle Me Dolls are an intricate piece to the puzzle in solidifying Dazzle Me Parties role in the marketplace.

I pride my company after other businesses that have built positive reputations on being actively involved in their perspective communities and providing spectacular customer service. Most small businesses fold within the first year but having customers who continue to support and believe in our vision is the icing on the cake and they deserve recognition too.

It has made my journey a lot smoother. Reaching our 2 year mark, we have been blessed to have customers that believe in us enough to continue to support us and keep us going. , I truly believe without my support system I would never have been able to achieve my dream! They take on a huge role in Dazzle Me Parties, helping us stay current with fresh fun ideas.
