Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeffery Bowden.
Jeffery, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My story started on the southside of Atlanta in College Park. I grew up and went to school with a lot of Atlanta’s music industry’ legends. I started as a young man with not much talent but a lot of ambition, I started singing and I formed a group from there we did talent shows. I met a lot of inspirational people that taught me a lot of things along the way. That inspired me to start a career in music and entertainment. I had my first publishing at the age of 20, I wrote a song on Destiny’s Child first album called “Show Me The Way”. From there, I formed a two guy two girl group by the name of Co-Ed. I wrote a song called “Roll Wit Me” that was a regional independent smash. It was the top record on the main urban radio stations in Atlanta for three months straight. It was the top record on the main urban radio stations in Atlanta for three months straight. Due to that song popularity, a lot of up-and-coming rappers wanted to rap on the remix to the song. I chose an unknown rapper at the time by the name of TI. From there the group ended up being signed to Universal records and 2000 this debut album titled Utopia was released in 2001. The group disbanded in 2003 and from there, I went on to start a career and producing and writing. Fast forward working with numerous artists in the industry writing and producing, I finally set my sights on a solo career in 2019 Releasing a debut solo album by the name of the Electric Love Revival under the stage name Jedii. I’ve set my sights on film/video production in early 2013 starting my production company Nu Atlanta productions. I wrote my first feature and started trying to produce it before I realized that you never get a second chance to make your first film. From there I started my journey into the film industry working at rental houses and networking with professionals learning as much as I can. I teamed up with music artist Lyfe Jennings in early 2019 to work on a series of videos for his new album to be released titled 777. The first production was called accusing me featuring Jess Hilarious and Young Joc. Now in 2019, I am currently working on an independent feature film by the name of hidden orchard mysteries and I am very excited about this project. This is my first time as a unit production manager and first assistant director. Needless to say, I am learning a lot. I am also lucky enough to be a producer on this project which is awesome. So what’s next? Expect Nu Atlanta Productions to be a main stay in music, film, publishing, television and real estate we’re just getting started!!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would say I have had my share of obstacles and challenges, all of which in someway have made me more prepared for my experiences now. You would not have been able to tell me 20 years ago when I started that I would still be pursuing a career looking for my version of success. What I have found on my journey is that I am successful for having the courage to try.
