Meet Jessica Smith of Path to Purpose – Life Coach in Kennesaw

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Smith.

Jessica, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am an Atlanta based author, certified Life Coach and I’m currently majoring in Psychology to obtain a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology with a focus on Mental Health. At a very young age, I knew what my gifts were. I have always loved reading as well as writing.

Literature and history are my two favorite subjects! I started writing as early as seven years old. I remember writing short stories, poems, mini plays and I always kept a journal. Around eight years old I became very interested in studying the human mind and behavior. Unlike other kids my age, I seldom wanted to play outside or watch cartoons. I stayed inside just to read encyclopedia books, dictionaries and write. One of my favorite shows as a kid was “Unsolved Mysteries.” I love suspenseful movies and books. Psychology has always intrigued me. I knew around 9th grade I wanted to become a Counselor. I personally experienced a lot of trauma during childhood and throughout young adulthood. My passion has always been to advocate, inspire, counsel, support and encourage others. As a survivor of domestic violence and childhood abuse, I’m driven to give hope to so many who suffer silently by sharing my story, struggles and how I fought to gain my life back!

Has it been a smooth road?
Pursuing my passion, striving to accomplish the goals I have set for myself hasn’t always been easy. When I released my first poetry book in 2018, “Poetic Butterfly – Coded Secrets,” I had a few doubts as my sales were very low but I had to remind myself success doesn’t happen overnight. We have to be patient during the process and don’t give up! Self-discipline and time management is vital. Balance is also key as I’m presently in the early stages of launching my business as a Life Coach “Path to Purpose”, I’ve recently launched my new Podcast “Jess Real Talk” and I’m writing my second book. Yet, I have managed to balance it all. A negative mindset or attitude can be a stumbling block so keeping a positive outlook is important. As an introvert a huge challenge for me is opening up and sharing pieces of me with the world. I communicate best through writing or one on one. I’m also a little shy at times and don’t like a lot of attention. I want to connect more with the world through my social media platforms yet I find it hard to dive into the social media pool of interacting via “live or video posts,” but I’m working on it. I have a determination to improve, so I’m getting there and poking my head out of my introvert shell!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Path to Purpose – Life Coach – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Kennesaw is a nice city to live in, we work together as a community. The city has really blossomed over the last ten years. New eateries and shops. This is also a great place to raise children. My two children graduated from Kennesaw Mountain High School (a really great school). Kennesaw is a friendly and peaceful town! I love it!
