Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessie Dean.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was originally born in Greenville, TX and always had a mild obsession with long hair and eventually began growing it out my during my sophomore year in high school; unfortunately during that time, I knew nothing about natural hair care and always kept it in braids and cornrows to avoid dealing with it on a daily basis; just to eventually cut it all off by senior year and maintained a mini fro until 2012. When I finally decided to let it grow out completely, while making a promise to myself to become more self reliant about caring for my hair, as it continued to get longer, I began researching more natural hair tips; as well as other styling options to avoid excessive dryness and tangles; the more I practiced each new technique, the more I continued to share my progress and tips on my social media pages.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There were many times I wanted to give up on spreading my message and journey; especially during times when I did not get the influencer and brand ambassador opportunities I was applying for.
Natural Hair Influencer – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am known from sharing my love for natural hair, as well as my desire to serve as an ambassador of Love, Acceptance, and True Beauty; that helps guide others through their own hair journey, by encouraging them to embrace and love their own hair throughout their progress, and sharing my DIY hair and scalp care recipes, along with my experiences using difference products from different brands to help them along the way.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Two of my proudest moments were receiving the opportunity to be a TGIN (Thank God It’s Natural) beauty ambassador and the opportunity to represent Soultanicals at the Taliah Waajid Hair Show, as a brand ambassador; where I was able to meet other influencers, ambassadors, as well as CEOs from various haircare brands.
