Hi Jhade, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The idea of my business started when I was in the beauty supply store with my homegirl, and she just brought up how I should start a clothing line. The idea never really crossed my mind but she was like you can dress and a lot of people like you so why not. Then eventually I just said let me try it. Everything really got started from the motivation of my friends really pushing me to just start the business and stop being scared because I was worried about what people would think. Throughout this process, I could say that staying consistent with my business and actively marketing my brand has put me in the place that I am in today.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
A lot of people might say my business has been pretty smooth just off of the progress I have in not even a year; however, I have had many different struggles. To start off it definitely is a struggle trying to do everything by yourself. Yes, I have people who help me as much as they can but when it comes to creating logos, packaging, shipping, social media and consistently branding your clothing line, it is a lot to do by yourself. Then I have had struggles with finding the right vendors. I have been scammed out like $1500 just from trusting vendors. Thankfully I have a vendor who is good now, but I am still looking for that PERFECT vendor.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I recently graduated from Clayton State University with my MBA in Digital Marketing. I have played basketball all my life on scholarship, so I was one of those balls is life type of people. I don’t really think I’m known for a specific thing but I can say I am a pretty liked person by a lot of people. I honestly am most proud of this clothing line I have and how it is taking off in such a short amount of time. I would say that my drive sets me apart from other people. The amount of research and time I put into my clothing line is immaculate and I would do anything just to see it at the top.
