Meet Jordan Austin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Austin.

Jordan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My journey as a producer/DJ began the summer I graduated high school. I was introduced to the world of DJ’ing first and dove heavily into the art. I began producing shortly after, as I was so inspired by the music I was DJ’ing; that I wanted to create my own. It was extremely tough to get into at first, I made terrible beats for years, lol. But I fell in love with the process and watched as many YouTube tutorials as I could and even did a year-long audio engineering program at SAE. It’s now been 6-7 years since I first opened FL studio and have now converted to Ableton. I’ve put out a plethora of music over the years but recently I self released a new EP and a handful of singles that have really captured my “sound” and who I am as an artist. I have a lot of things coming in 2021, including releases on some labels that I believe in fully. As well as some other surprises I can’t yet mention. 🙂

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Definitely has not been the smoothest road. I’ve overcome many obstacles that have made me into the person I am today. I don’t regret anything that’s happened, as I wouldn’t be the same if it didn’t. Everything is a learning experience. 🙂

We’d love to hear more about your work.
My goal as a producer, especially in the niche market that my music categorizes under. Is to make music that is unlike anything that has been heard before. Not that I’m going to create some new genre, no. What I mean is, I want to make the most authentic, self-inspired music that I can. Straight from my brain to the computer. I don’t follow any “formula” or “structure” when I make music, I make want I want.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success for me is making the best possible music that I can. And if I can inspire at least one more person to follow what they love most, that’s a success. I didn’t start making music to become rich or famous, and I don’t plan on switching up.
