Meet Jordan Sherley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Sherley.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born and raised in Clarksville, Tennessee — a small town just north of Nashville.

When I was 4, I began training in classical ballet, which was the origination of my passion for performance (a.k.a. may need to be a ham in front of my family and friends).

Along the way, I picked up gymnastics, competitive dance, and theatre. I think I fell in love with the process of putting my all into practicing a craft in private, then showing an audience and getting feedback on what I had been working on.

I got my first acting gig when I was 15 years old, which was a series of back-to-school commercials for CMT Network. It was my first time being on a set and I was a kid in a candy store. The crew was so kind, the cameras looked like cool alien robots, and I learned so much about acting that couldn’t be taught in a class. I knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my life on sets like that, whether it be in front of the camera or behind it. I’ve been hooked ever since.

Has it been a smooth road?
Working in film and television is not always the most stable profession, but to the people who choose to do it, it’s absolutely worth it. In acting, it’s hard to work consistently because you are constantly trying to convince a new project to hire you.

Auditioning is tough. It stirs up a lot of anxiety and you have to deal with so much rejection, but it creates extremely thick skin, which is beneficial in all facets of life. In filmmaking, the toughest part has been the creative blocks. The process, from preproduction to postproduction, is so emotionally and physically draining.

After you finish one, it’s already time to start another, even though you just gave everything you had for the last project. I’m still learning how to quiet down the perfectionist in me so that I can save energy along the way.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I still consider myself somewhat new to the Atlanta acting scene. I’ve been doing some really exciting day player roles recently, plus I have been working on a web series called “Outlandish” for the last year.

The first season is already on YouTube and we will begin filming season two in November. It’s been awesome to play this character and meet so many young people in Atlanta with goals similar to mine. There’s a very supportive community out here.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I came here in 2015 and I was 19 years old. It was a bit of a shock to the system because I had never lived in a city before.

The city toughened me up very quickly. When I first moved in, I experienced all of these new and complex emotions. I felt so alone while being surrounded by so many people. Every day was unpredictable. Atlanta was something I wasn’t accustomed to, but I needed it in order to grow as an artist and person.

Atlanta, to me, feels like a city with endless opportunities. The people are fascinating, art is everywhere, and there’s always something to explore.
