Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Conrad.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Joshua. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
After graduating college with my bachelor’s degree in business and finance and a failed landscaping business venture, I relocated to Lawrenceville where I was able to start a new life. After working for a few other companies, I longed for a sense of freedom so I decided to open a company based around my long-time hobby of artwork. Due to my extensive background, I decided to broaden the company as wide as possible to garner more clients. I decided that it was in my best interest to link my hobbies and degrees together.
Currently most of my business is online. And I am in the process of relocating to Tucker, GA.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. There has been a lot of rejection, prejudice, and theft of my artwork. I would say that the prejudice is the most damaging but the theft the most infuriating. It really takes a toll on you. A potential client could be looking through my portfolio and one second they fell in love with one picture the next they’re ready to throw something.
The biggest struggle is of course finding a niche that you can get clients from. The second is probably keeping my artwork safe from thieves but at the same time sending out promotional images to garner clients.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I specialize in almost all forms of custom artwork. I do logos, concept design, advertisements, watercolor, oil, acrylic, charcoal, pastel, but my most proficient is probably digital artwork. Most of my sales is centered around designing things like a logo or an album cover, but my favorite hobby is to do fan art of anime, comic book and manga characters. I am most proud of each successful client I get, because it feels like I made a genuine difference in the country.
What sets me apart from competitors is probably my versatility. I don’t have many business or corporate standards to get in the way so I offer more freedom for the clients to get what they want. It also gives me a unique ability to garner money that most businesses can’t get.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I feel like Atlanta is a good area for me and I would certainly recommend someone start here. I think that because it is so diverse it has so much to offer. The only thing I would recommend Atlanta improve is the roads. Lately I’ve heard of a lot of road and traffic problems.
