Today we’d like to introduce you to Kadé Hill.
Kadé, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Film and production are my passion; but, I’m also a design engineer by profession. I’m originally from Monrovia, Liberia and I moved to Philadelphia when I was two years old. I started modeling at a young age and joined a model and talent agency once I moved to Atlanta in 2006 for college. While booking gigs through the agency, I discovered my love of film and made the decision to take a step back from modeling to focus on production. I became more interested in creating stories than becoming the characters so I began to write. I wrote my first film called “The Industry” back in 2012 and I’m currently working on White Rose, a short film that shines light on the child sex trafficking epidemic. It premieres on September 18th at the Plaza Theater in Atlanta this summer.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There have been so many struggles along the way. My main struggle has been juggling being a wife, mom and entrepreneur while still working a 9-5. Sometimes it feels like there aren’t enough hours in the day but learning how to prioritize and switching my focus to balance has helped a lot.
Please tell us about Jaido Studios.
Jaido Studios is a production and design studio. I’ve merged both of my passions into one company and tailored it to meet the business and entertainment needs of my clients and audience. The design studio specializes in the development of websites, logos, stationary material, business branding and mobile applications. The production side is a fully functional studio focused on the creation of film, TV shows, music videos and promotional commercials from concept to post-production. I’m most proud of the content that we create. Our motto is “Because Representation Matters.” My goal is to create captivating stories that break common barriers and reinvents the way that people of color are represented in today’s media.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have spent more time on research and becoming familiar with the business side of the entertainment industry. I’ve had to learn a lot of lessons the hard way and I feel like some of those could have been avoided.
