Today we’d like to introduce you to Keith Stephens.
Keith, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My name is Keith, but most people know me as Snacks. This name was giving to me while attending the University of Georgia. My mother uses to send me care packages from time to time full of Snacks, and my teammates use to tease me about the amount of Snacks I use to have in my dorm room.
So whenever I would come into a room, everyone would say “wassup Snacks” and pretty soon everyone on campus started calling me Snacks. Fast forward to 2016, I started wearing a t-shirt that said I love Snacks and Snacks University, just for fun. Every time I would wear one of those shirts people would ask me where I got it, they also wanted the shirt. So I decided that I would started selling these shirts on my Instagram page. It kind of took off from there, I started with those two designs, now I have over 20 different designs. I sell hoodies, hats, leggings, and swimsuits. I no longer sell shirts on my Instagram, I now have a website iheartsnacksclothing.com where I sell all my items.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the challenges I face now that I’ve become more busy is being able to keep up with the demand. I’m a one man operation…I do the designs… I ship the shirts… I handle all of the customer service issues. This is my baby and I take it so serious..but I know to take it to the next level I’m going to have to expand and get me a team. I’m exploring opening up a store where I will sell my shirts along with hard to find snacks. I’m ready to face that challenge head on.
Please tell us about iHeartSnacksClothing.
My company specializes in snack themed clothing. Most of my shirts have funny sayings that will spark conversation. One thing that sets me apart from other shirt companies is my size selection, for men my sizes go up to 7x and for women 3x.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Spending summers with my grandmother in Alabama, she cooked all the food I liked and I could stay up really late.
