Meet Kenneth Nance Jr. of LetSee Tapings

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenneth Nance Jr.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kenneth. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
The first time I remember acting in front of people was when I was in the third grade. (Shout out to my first role as ‘Benji The Bugle Boy’) I fell in love with it then, and I did more theatre throughout high school and college, but I started doing Film & Television work about five years ago (wow five years!)

I trained as much as possible, wherever I could, and in a variety of different ways and eventually I was blessed enough to start booking roles on stage, web series, movies, and television. It’s definitely been one of the most enriching and challenging things I’ve ever done.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Oh ABSOLUTELY not! Being an artist is challenging enough when you take your craft seriously, but when you’re in a field where your art or your interpretation of art is rejected regularly it can really have an effect on you. That’s why I’m so glad mental and emotional health have become more talked about in this day and age, especially for actors and artists.

Surrounding yourself with the right group of people has also been a real challenge for me. As great as the Atlanta acting community is, (and it is PHENOMENAL) it can be very cliquish, and there have been times that myself and others have found themselves on the outs. That can make things very difficult to navigate especially if you haven’t done a lot, and you’re unsure of where to turn or what to do.

So no it has not been smooth to say the least, but I thank God for the lessons I’ve learned along the way, and the people I’ve been fortunate enough to have pour into me along the way.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
LetSee Tapings is a company created by my friend and fellow artist Antoine Privott. I rely on him and the other member of the LetSee Taping family (and PHENOMENAL actress) Kaila Little heavily when it came to taping auditions. It just so happens Antoine and Kaila were taping numerous different people already, so when he decided to turn it into a business, he asked me if I’d come on board to be one of the coaches/tapers for current and future clients. Being able to help people trust their own artistry and bring their creativity and talents to the forefront is definitely one of the most enriching things I’ve been blessed enough to be apart of.

What I think sets us apart from others, is how much we encourage our clients to utilize the creativity that made them want to become artists in the first place, while using our own experience to help them maximize their performance in a way that they leave feeling fulfilled.

It would be easy to say that as a company we’re most proud of our clients who book roles, but more so than that, I would say we’re most proud of the personal growth that we’ve experienced professionally and personally, in addition to seeing and being apart of the growth of our clients.

What were you like growing up?
THAT’s an interesting question! I was always very imaginative (according to my sister Porsche’ I would sit in my room and play with my action figures for HOURS!) I would mostly describe myself as pretty shy, but not necessarily quiet if that makes any sense.

Stories have always fascinated me and I could find the story in anything! I was a comic book fan, R&B, and Hip-Hop fan, and I was such a huge fan of wrestling there were a ton of people surprised I didn’t end up in a wrestling ring!

Now that I think about it, interest wise I guess I haven’t actually changed that much!
