Today we’d like to introduce you to Kerry Bryant.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I went to school and grew up in Colorado including my formal training in Surgical Technology. I really felt that after I graduated that I was well on my way until life happened.
While in my externship at St Anthony’s Central hospital in Denver, I noticed the huge difference in the way I felt about medicine in general. I wanted be a physician, always had, however something that I was experiencing was a bit different. The way the doctors interacted with the patients wasn’t what I thought it would be. I felt as if more could be done in reference to offering patients more from a holistic point of view versus surgery, which is usually the last option.
I could not believe that all these years what I really wanted in life was now looking very different to me. I didn’t agree with excess surgical procedures and that there were indeed “natural” options available for most people.
After my schooling commenced, I moved on in a different field, accounting and finance. A far cry from the hospital. After all I had two small children to raise and returning to the medical field was not an option because my children were more important and they were going to need a full time mom.
I loved medicine. It could fix people. Give them hope and a future. I missed medicine.
There was also a dark side.
I knew all about the pharmaceutical reps and their relationships with the doctors. Most drugs that are taken are done so to basically put a band aid on the symptoms, not really to offer a solution to the issue. Most or all patients were getting hooked on the prescriptions being given by the doctors.
In 2012, I got a call that my mother had a brain tumor. I was living in Atlanta at the time but flew back to Colorado as surgery was needed to remove the tumor.
I felt that the information presented was a well-documented case for a surgery. I knew the neuro surgeon who was performing the procedure. It was removed with no complications.
It was at that time I began to seek out natural options for my mother as it was discovered that she had diabetes, which no one knew about. We had known of her blood pressure issues but no other.
I started diving into herbal treatments, which took me back to my pharmacology from school. All pharma is based on the natural, it’s just taken into a lab and put on steroids. I then came up with a natural mixture for my mother’s high blood pressure and diabetes issues.
She begin to feel better. I asked her to continue to take her prescribed medications however when she goes in for doctor visits, inquire if she can get her dosages lowered.
Soon the doctors were inquiring as to what she was doing differently? I told her it was up to her if she wanted to inform them, I know most physicians are skeptical of holistic unless they really favor it.
I them had other family members that wanted to go natural. I made them mixtures as well.
I then got hurt in jiu-jitsu and needed help myself. After several visits to the doctors, they had no answer as to the pain I was feeling.
I felt let down by the medical system as I could visibly see what was transpiring right in front of my eyes. My hard earned money was leaving my pockets in medical fees. I was bombarded with requests to take different types of medications, most I didn’t even need. I refused them all.
I went home, made a mixture to treat my pain (Spleen Injury-IMO) Within 6 weeks, my pain was gone. I then decided to offer assistance to others seeking a natural path to healing and treating their own sickness and illnesses.
Most people are receptive, the majority of them know the drugs they are taking save horrible side effects, and are doing damage in some way shape or form to their bodies and their mind. I have now been producing medical for a few years now. For people in my church, to co-workers, to family members and now I have the honor of assisting others from all over the US.
I am educating and offering a different, effective and cost efficient way of healing the issue or their sickness, not the symptoms.
Has it been a smooth road?
I love the challenges, you grow faster from them. Some people are not receptive of holistic herbal practices and that’s ok. However, I have noticed that once they are exposed and critical, they sometimes come back with more questions or concerns.
I like that because it shows me that maybe once there was no interest, but now there is a little.
Another obstacle is that natural is not always the best tasting.
Our taste buds for the most part have been ruined by everything that tastes good but may not be good for you. Usually one has to get accustomed to anything “natural” and continue to use it to seek the results they are desiring. They have to commit.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Abstract Wellness is company that assists people in finding a natural solution to their medical issues.
We produce holistic herbal solutions as pre-mixed items on the website or customized mixes for the individual based upon their medical situation, prescriptions, possible allergic reactions, etc.
We are most proud of the feedback we have received from individuals that have placed their trust in us to offer a solution for them.
What sets us apart from others is that we offer customized mixes tailored to each customer. Medicine should not be a “one size fits most” industry. Each individual is unique and special. Their condition is not the same as the next person.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I do feel like Atlanta is a good place to start however there is still more work to do. As prescription and opioid abuse is rising, if people are educated in way that will serve them it can always be better.
For anyone starting out my advice would be to research, get additional training, travel to different countries that specialize in natural or holistic practices. Most countries outside of the United States favor holistic treatments, (its money thing) unfortunately.
