Meet Kiara Clark of Let’s Vent by Kiara in Savannah

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiara Clark.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m 29 (will be 30 in June!) and I’m from the beautiful city by the sea, Savannah. My journey started back in 2016 when me and my husband had our first child. I didn’t quite know what was wrong but I knew something wasn’t right, mentally. Fear stopped me from opening up about everything I was feeling. Fast forward to March 2018, we had our son. That’s when I realized what postpartum depression was. It was so bad, I literally felt as if I was going insane. Again, still unable to talk about my feelings, I went with my mask on but inside, I was so broken and honestly messed up. My connection with my children was never an issue. It was all mentally. I cried day in and day out. June 2018, I was wrongfully sent to a mental institution after being in a car accident. The hospital told me it was a postpartum depression quiz that all new moms take.

By law, I spent three miserable days being examined just to be told I vented at the wrong time. It was at that moment I realized there’s no median or safe place for mothers to just vent. January 2019, a fresh start depression-free. I reached out to my now business partner Maya Fritz and told her I had an idea but wasn’t sure what to do. We met for lunch and I shared with her the idea of Let’s Vent. Maya honestly gave me the push needed to launch sitting at that table eating sushi lol! February 24, 2019 Let’s vent became reality. We’ve expanded and now December 2019, we have the man cave, a safe space for men to vent!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Launching was actually pretty smooth. After launching the road did get rocky because I kept my eyes on the lack of support after launching. So that caused me to feel as if Let’s Vent wasn’t great. A conversation I had with my Bishop, Bishop Jackie Gilbert-Grant, made me see that God doesn’t house little visions and that Let’s Vent is needed!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Let’s Vent by Kiara – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Let’s Vent by Kiara started out as an empowerment group to inspire and help mothers dealing with postpartum depression. Over time it became an outlet for anyone that needed a vent buddy. Since launching there were more men reaching out to me so we have launched the Man Cave because men should V.E.N.T too. Not only can you v.e.n.t (voice everything now through talking) but we offer a roadmap to a healthier you. The roadmap is basically a goal sheet.

What am I most proud of?? I’m most proud of the fact that both, let’s vent and the man cave, are looked at as safe havens. Everyone  knows what’s discussed in the vent session stays there. We are set apart from others because of our strict confidential agreement and the fact that we are totally a judgment free zone.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I don’t want to tell all my plans lol buuuut I can say that Let’s Vent is planning to be all over! One event we are currently planning is our one-year anniversary rebranding party. Everyone’s invited! That’s when more details will be released. 😊

I think this is a great business and is needed. My co-workers and I (all moms and wives) vent to each other and it is very therapeutic. Keep it up sis, I am also from the beautiful city of Savannah, Ga. I also had a spotlight article written about my business Courageous Creations under ATL’s most inspiring stories so I hope we can connect.

    Blessings,
