Meet Kiersten Wilson of Kiersten & Company Salon in Roswell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiersten Wilson.

Kiersten, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I graduated in the top 5% of the 1994 class at Pivot Point. I don’t think my parents ever wondered what I’d be when I grew up! Any doll that had hair of any kind got a hair do! I attended Pivot Point Cosmetology Research Center in Chicago, Illinois soon after graduating High School, finishing at the top of my class in 1994. The Pivot Point Center is a world-renowned school, whose educational formats are used as benchmarks throughout the USA. I also completed advanced training classes in Hair Sculpting and Design at Pivot Point International. Soon after, I relocated to Tallahassee, FL to be near my sisters. Opening the doors to my first salon in 2003 and operating as the Owner and Master stylist, in less than two years I was able to expand and I established one of the top upscale Salon and Day Spas in Tallahassee. In 2008, I relocated to GA. In addition to building a new clientele her in GA, I traveled to FL biweekly to oversee operations and service clients there over the next five years. As my family dynamic changed when I remarried and had my fourth daughter, making it harder to travel often, I decided to sell the salon in Tallahassee and focus on building my salon here in GA. By 2014. we’d outgrown our studio in Alpharetta. We opened the doors to our new space in Roswell in May of 2014.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Being a single mom and relocating to a new city, with the recession in 2008 shortly after we relocated, I was forced to downsize the space in FL. Fortunately were still able to offer most of the services, only having to eliminate our Body Treatments. After remarrying in 2011 and becoming pregnant, I was fortunate to convince my protege of 2 years, Dominique to relocate to GA to assist me through the end of my pregnancy and service my clients while I was on maternity leave. She is still my greatest asset.

Kiersten & Company Salon – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Kiersten & Company has always been a salon where people could be themselves. The salon’s friendly personality encourages most people to feel free, relax, and stop in even outside of their appointments. Kiersten & Company is definitely a place to have fun, enjoy a comfortable atmosphere, and leave looking great. We specialize in taming and maintaining healthy hair, educating clients with unruly curly hair to manage it better. I am most known for my color techniques and technical approach to cutting, especially were “Bobs” are concerned. I am also an educator for GK Hair.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Setting a goal, whether it be business or personal. Staying focused on and reaching that goal even when the path may look different than you planned.
