Hi Kris, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
This passion of mine started during my crafting days in 2014. I developed a love for helping others, making their birthdays, weddings, bridal brunches, and baby showers, creating handmade vases, and making anniversaries spectacular. I love the look on their faces filled with so much joy and happiness my services would give. What started out as a side hobby grew into a passion I love. It’s more than just a hobby for me.
OUR Uniqueness lies in the fact that not only do we plan and design beautiful spaces to elevate and perfect your vision, but we also create our very own custom artistry and design elements. We like to call them our O’Kasion Kreations, these creations will make any o’kasion unforgettable! We offer personalized custom vases, bridal wear, event décor and so much more for each of our clients! We get a chance to create with professional collaborators who always give that just perfect touch!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No, this has not been a smooth road. This has been a trying time for me. Over the years I’ve lost many loved ones, lost jobs, received my degree in business, and started a new career. I struggled with finding a job in the midst of enjoying the passion I’ve grown to love. Being a single mother trying to raise children, crafting started as a way to cope with stress and depression. It was God’s way of turning my hobby into something I had never imagined. After losing my job and starting a new career I struggled to find the income to take care of my children, the supplies to continue advancing crafting, locate clients, and learn new techniques and designs. In 2018 I decided I’d like to turn my passion into a business helping more and more clients achieve their visions for any O’Kasion. I became very ill in 2018 and wasn’t feeling well. In 2019 I had to have inpatient surgery which didn’t allow me to work on my passion for months. During this time I begin to give up.
However, in 2019, I lost a very special lady that was a part of my life and encouraged me to step out and share my passion and talent with the world. I almost gave it all up after losing her. One day, I decided to invest in ME! I invested in myself, gathered more material, and I haven’t looked back since. It’s almost like I can hear her voice pushing and demanding me to use my passion to bless others, making their special moments in life a memory they’ll never forget. At the end of the day, I strive to make every client feel welcome to share their dreams and visions with me.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My creativity and vision for O’Kasions started to come alive when I began to create unique handmade decors for all types of events. Since 2014, I’ve been able to administrate and help plan various types of events and celebrations, but now with a certification in Event Planning, I have been able to expand my knowledge and skillset for designing and planning events of all kinds. I am super proud of my own personalized vases and floral decorations. Each client decides their color scheme, choice of flower(s) they’d like to use, and any other detailed information needed to bring their ideas to life. Being able to create any project regardless of the colors and floral themes inspires me to keep going and never give up. O’Kasion Kreations, these creations will make any o’kasion unforgettable! Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
In 2014 a great friend of mine was planning her wedding. She looked at me and asked me to decorate and set up her wedding. I couldn’t believe she would actually trust me to set up her wedding. She believed in me, and she pushed me soo much to start making my handmade decor, vases, clothing, and other decors. She inspired me to continue to improve my techniques and skills with each individual made to order. It was tough some days trying to improve my talents while creating events and unique Kreations.
