Meet Kristen Blevins of Effortless Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Blevins.

Kristen, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started Effortless Photography to show clients that there are two ways to photograph; there are the posed photos with forced smiles, and then there are those rare ‘real’ moments that can be captured. These moments can be difficult to spot and you may have to look closely, but once you see them you can’t unsee the magic that occurs, in those mere seconds, between poses. They are accidental pout faces, or laughing out loud moments shared among friends, they are a loving embrace between lovers, or a reuniting of old friends.

These are the moments I pride myself on capturing, they tell the story that a thousand forced smiles could never begin to describe. Moments captured are memories to last a lifetime even after you have long forgotten.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Photography has been a main interest of mine since I got my first camera at the young age of ten. I photographed anything and everything. Shortly after graduating high school, it became a dream of mine to travel and shoot for National Geographic but, life had other plans for me and dreams got pushed aside. I never truly gave up on my passion, and throughout the years began booking weddings, but it wasn’t enough to quench my thirst for success.

About a year ago, I poured my heart and soul back into photography and through social media sites, as well as my website, I am finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. I am now mainly shooting weddings, portraits, and boudoir, but I’m still chasing after my dream to one day become a travel photographer.

Effortless Photography – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Effortless Photography specializes in capturing true smiles and rare moments shared between souls that many people tend to overlook.

Many photographers get caught up in creating a smile or a moment, that they forget to capture the things around them that are already happening, whether that’s a husband taking in the beauty of his new wife, or a little brother helping his younger sister up; life is happening all around us and it is up to us to contain these memories within a photograph, so they can live on forever.

Our minds are fragile things and they won’t always be true to us, so I make it my duty to recreate memories through photographs that you can hold and cherish throughout this lifetime and the next.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success for me means ultimately being happy with the life you live each and every day. As long as I can honestly say that I did my best in capturing every moment possible and helping in any aspect I can, not only as just a photographer but as a friend to my clients, only then can I sleep easy.

I try to obtain some sort of friendship with all of my clients, so I can grasp their personalities and traits within their photos, as well as make them as comfortable as possible before photoshoots.
