Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystle Saulsberry.
Krystle, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My story began at 17 years old when I received some information in the mail about competing in a pageant. It took me by surprise because initially, I had no interest in pageantry. Prior to competing, I struggled with self-esteem and a lack of confidence. After doing some research on this particular pageant system, I decided to move forward with competing. Through pageantry, I have been able to build my confidence, improve my communication skills, and discover my purpose. I wanted to be able to help others reach their potential through this industry known as pageantry.
Now, 17 years later, I am a 34-year-old successful pageantry professional who has held several pageantry titles, judged and coached contestants all over the Southeast, served on staff for a national pageant system, written several books, and appeared in major publications.
Has it been a smooth road?
Starting and building a business is no easy task. It takes hard work, sacrifice, patience, and discipline. You have to show up for your business every day regardless if no one books a coaching call, reads a blog post, or comments on a social media post. I have struggled in the past with comparing myself to other successful entrepreneurs in my industry, but I had to realize that my journey is my journey. I will experience the success I desire in due time if I stay the course and don’t give up. My timing is not always God’s timing so that is where I must have patience.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Krystle Clear Pageantry story. Tell us more about it.
I started Krystle Clear Pageantry in 2015 as a web-based platform that provides pageant coaching and education. Krystle Clear Pageantry coaches and educates women and girls on how to have a winning mindset, make a good presentation, and develop self-confidence. I offer one on one coaching (in-person and virtual), workshops, books, and courses. The signature coaching program is called The Glamour Effect.
I am proud that the business initially started out as a pageantry blog, but it has grown into full-fledged pageant coaching and education platform. I take a holistic approach to coaching, and I focus on building the self-esteem of a woman or girl before we move to training for other aspects of pageant competition. I believe this is important in order for her to manifest the crown she desires.
In 2018, I created Krystle Clear Enterprises, LLC as a way to offer even more services beyond pageant coaching and education. A t-shirt line and a 5K for pageant enthusiasts is currently in the works.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see the pageantry industry growing and more systems being created in the next 5-10 years. With that being said, there will be a need for even more coaching and preparing women and girls to succeed in this industry. I also see women and girls being more comfortable competing with their natural hair. As a natural hair queen, I am very proud to see this shift in the industry.
