Meet Kurinn Wright of Coach Wright Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kurinn Wright.

Kurinn, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I pursued entrepreneurship while working at a University many years ago. Initially, I sold handmade art as a hobby. Soon after I started an art company (my first business), several of my friends and a few people I worked with would reach out to me and ask me how I started my business, but what they really wanted to know was how I established myself (the business foundation) and began earning income so quickly.

Shortly after having meetings with people to help them with things such as managing their social media, building a brand, coming up with content and registering a business etc. , I started a business coaching company with a partner where we did this full time. The art company was only a door, I missed helping people so this was much more fulfilling. We ran the company together for 3 years and during that time I completed a coaching certification in Business and Life Plan Development, coaching and consulting has always been a part of my DNA when I look back at the work I did while in Corporate America.

My last job was to create plans for those at risk of being dismissed. This forced me to be creative, do research, listen and form a strategy and monitor the progress of people between the ages of 18-65. This is after having also worked in different areas of finance. As a professional coach and consultant, I use all of these skills as well as the knowledge I gain from each client over the years to be the expert I have grown into to help those who pursue my services today.

Has it been a smooth road?
I can’t say the road has been smooth but what I can say is that I needed every single bump. The challenges I faced came in all shapes and sizes but I realized that they were all a form of training. There was no one to teach me the things I needed to know to make it scratch success. Trail and error, research and phone calls, reading and developmental tools were where I found solace.

From finances, to yes’s becoming no’s, to losing trust in some of the people closest to me, I can say I’ve learned more than enough. I wouldn’t trade a lesson though. All of these things have taught me how to keep going, plan better, stand-alone, reshape my business and plan better for my clients. I can relate to a lot of what they go through on their journey and I am better prepared to give them a clearer path than the one I had. I used to ask, ‘why am I having to go through this?” But every time I work with a company or individual, it becomes clear.

Someone has to show others what the process of a diamond looks like to give those who struggle hope; to let them know that they are in a process that will work for their good in the end. I love the idea of being able to show someone how to avoid some of the pitfalls I’ve endured because it makes my challenges worthwhile. I also love being an entrepreneur, and I love helping others become entrepreneurs.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Coach Wright Consulting – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My business, Coach Wright Consulting is exactly that! I am a certified coach who consults. My company specializes in business coaching and consulting as well as life plan development. I am also an author and a speaker. Most of my time is filled with speaking or teaching engagements where I create content to empower the audience on different business topics or skills.

Usually, one to one coaching is where the life plan development comes into play. This is when individuals have goals but do not have direction on where to start or what to do to achieve the goals. Sometimes the goals are personal and at times they too fall under business, I do group coaching sessions for youth, college-aged students, and adults. These topic vary depending on the request. And sometimes I host events where I may invite people out to be empowered through a fun, content-filled speak. I am known for speaking and teaching, and of course, my book, Shine in Your Lane!

When I think about what I am most proud of as a company, it would have to be the workshops I teach for youth, and the work I do with non-profits for women. Youth are very important to me. These are the people we will rely on very soon, and to educate them is to enhance communities now. As for the non-profits, I primarily work with those that teach women self-sufficiency and how to gain and maintain employment. I always throw entrepreneurship in when dealing with either of these groups because no one told me this was an option when I was a ‘youth’, and when I became a young woman, all I saw as examples of entrepreneurs were men.

*There are a few things that set me apart from others. I intentionally focus on myself and not what competitors are doing, no one needs distractions while building and growing. The better focused I am, the better I can keep my client focused and do my job.

*An encounter with me will empower you. I am a teacher by nature so you will leave my presence with a ‘know how’, a practical plan, and a desire to take action. This has been my experience with clients. I invest in teaching them the difference between ‘sale’ and ‘value’. How we see ourselves determines so much about what comes to us and where we end up. I focus my energy on the success of those I work with because their success is my success and when they do well, others want to know who helped to get them there.

*Also, when working with individuals, I lead with the foundation in mind. A solid foundation will allow room for growth.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I like most about Atlanta is the people, the opportunity, and the culture.

What I like least about Atlanta is the traffic, the oversaturated markets and that a lot of entrepreneurs have been taught to sell, sell, sell, without understanding the value of building relationships.
