Today we’d like to introduce you to Lana Banegas and Lisa Korey.
Lana and Lisa, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
North Metro Psychological Services started as a conversation between myself and Lisa. Both of us are licensed clinicians and we are both passionate about seeing families and communities improve their relationships and their lives. Dr. Lisa Korey is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in assessment of children and adults. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist specializing in relational concerns. We realized that we have many similarities in our passions and our goals, but that we are also complimentary in our clinical specialties. Little did we know that this would be the foundation of our model.
Our conversation morphed into a business plan and a few short months later we are now in an office building together. Our goal was to create a welcoming, comprehensive and professional environment with highly qualified clinicians working together to provide timely care to our community. We are guided by our Christian values of affirmation and acceptance for all people. We welcome people from all walks of life and are very excited to become more involved in our community.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been a relatively smooth road. However, we did encounter some difficulties when remodeling our office building. We have learned that when you take on a renovation, you should plan out your ideal design, make out a detailed budget….and then throw it all out the window because it almost never goes as planned!
Please tell us about North Metro Psychological Services.
Our practice specializes in psychological assessment and therapeutic services. We see children, individuals, and couples and address various psychological concerns. We specialize in couples’ therapy, specifically addressing premarital counseling, sex therapy, and affair recovery. We also offer individual counseling for a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, grief, and many other areas. More recently, Dr. Alex Kohl has joined our practice, offering Neurotherapy, biofeedback, and neurostimulation to address concerns such as anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and others.
In addition to counseling, we provide extensive assessment services including psychoeducational and psychological evaluations for ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Learning Disabilities, and personality assessments. Dr. Korey is experienced in providing assessments to children, but is also passionate about adult assessment and has worked at GA Tech providing students with ADHD, learning disability, and Autism Spectrum Disorder evaluations to help them overcome their challenges.
As a company, we are most of our Christian values which include integrity in word and in action, respect for diversity, adherence to professional behavior, and genuine care for each of our clients. We welcome diversity in its many facets and are honored to work with people from all walks of life. We are also proud of our space, which we created with care, with our client’s comfort in mind. Clients have provided us with feedback that our space is very calming, cozy, and welcoming.
