Meet LaShonda Wells

Today we’d like to introduce you to LaShonda Wells.

LaShonda, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always been the creative and crafty type. In 2008, I literally crafted every piece of my wedding stationery. And like most women, once the wedding is over, you feel a sense of void and become bored because you’re not racing to plan something every day and usually, a lot of businesses are born that way. This is how I started my first business. I designed stationery for special occasions. During that time, I soon learned that doing business online was becoming a thing. I would soon discover the wonderful world of blogging. I thought it was so cool to be able to journal about things you live and love on a daily basis and people have an interest of reading them.

In 2012, my first blog was born. I decided that my blog should feature and bridge the gap of all the things that I loved to do in my life. I hold a degree in fashion and marketing, I created beautiful stationery, and I also loved to cook, entertain, and decorate for parties. What I didn’t realize is that while I was busy creating my blog, I was about to stumble upon something that would later change my entire career. I continued to learn all that I could about creating the perfect blog. I loved planning and writing blog posts. I soon taught myself everything about blogging from getting started to blogging successfully.  I even had the chance to work with some major brands along the way.

In the midst of all the hard work, I found myself getting really excited about the website design of the blog. I would literally stay up day in and out to change the look of my blog way more than the average blogger. It was something that fueled my soul. I absolutely loved knowing that I could put in a code on the back-end and create a whole vision on the front-end. In 2015, I began professionally designing websites and blogs for others. It’s been five years and I love it just as much as I did when I started my first blog.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road to web design has been such an amazing and rewarding journey for me. When you’re trying to break into a new industry, it always comes with its set of challenges and being self-taught adds another layer. You have to prove yourself even more.

In the past few years, I have taken time to learn as much as I can about the industry and about the types of people that I want to serve. The road hasn’t been too bad, but sometimes being self-taught, you are alone in learning, so when you hit snags, it can be discouraging and make you want to throw the towel in, but the most important thing is that I never gave up.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am a full-service web designer and brand strategist. My ideal customers are bloggers and business owners who are passionate about making a living from what they love to do.  They are ready to take their online presence and businesses to the next level. They also understand the importance of beautiful strategic web design. I have worked with people from various industries such as a wedding, finance, bloggers, food & beverage, attorneys, apparel shops, and veterinary practices.

What sets you apart from others?
My creative thinking ability and skill-set. As well as the ability to provide each client with a one-on-one unique design experience. I will never ever “just create a website”.  For me, it’s about helping my clients understand the value of their true talents and helping them create a strategic process for a successful online presence that will attract, engage, and convert sales as they grow their business.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
The city of Atlanta is one of THE BEST places for me to thrive in my industry.  There are so many small businesses here and new upcoming influencers.  The opportunity to connect and network here is outstanding.

Where do you see your industry going over the next 5-10 years?  Any big shifts, changes, trends, etc?
I am currently in the process of a certification that will develop my skill-set further as a Web Designer and Developer. In Fall 2020, it is my plan to launch another web design business that will be geared more toward the “Do-It-Yourself” entrepreneur. To say I’m ecstatic is an understatement!
