Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Dargan.
Laura, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I grew up loving to paint and draw but as I got older, I started to think that a career in art wasn’t an option. After I graduated college and after a series of not so great jobs, I decided to try my hand at painting again and I never looked back!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have definitely been struggles. Confidence always seems to be at the top of the list. Putting your work out into the world will never get easier. However, with struggle comes growth and it is part of the process!
We’d love to hear more about your art.
I am an abstract painter focusing on non-representational and figurative work. I mainly work with acrylic paint but I like to explore different media.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Just recently, I was chosen to be the featured artist for the Affordable Art Fair in New York. To have one of my paintings chosen out of thousands of other pieces to be the “face” of their advertising campaign is surreal. I am so grateful for this opportunity.
