Today we’d like to introduce you to Lawrence Young.
Lawrence, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve been shooting for over 20 years solely for the love of the craft. My father did photography as a hobby when I was younger and when I got of age I started to take pictures myself.
I would take pictures at family functions, work events and just walking the town and from people seeing my work began to ask for my services.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road but anything easy isn’t worth having. The hardest thing for me still is just having my work shown, I want every Image I show better than the last, so with that, I’m very critical of my work. So now I have my manager join me in making those final selections and helping me with that process.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
Lawrence Young Photography is about capturing the organic essence of everyone. So whether you’re a 6ft tall model in Paris or a stay at home mom in Decatur everyone is equally beautiful. I’m the photographer and one of my specialities is portraits, beauty and editorial photography.
I’m most proud of as a company is that I can do things on my terms and that it doesn’t ever feel like work when I’m shooting. What sets me apart from other photographers is that I’m me and no one could ever replicate that just as I could never be anyone else.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment of my career is whenever I look at a recent picture I’ve taken printed out, Its similar to seeing your child for the first time for me.
