Today we’d like to introduce you to LeAnne Dolce.
LeAnne, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My name is LeAnne Dolce and I am the CEO & the Self-Care Support Expert of Dolce & Lay. I have been a self-care enthusiast and a student of the wellness arts for over 15 years.
As a single mother of three, I often took care of other children in my family while working full time AND trying to run a new business. I was constantly trying to pour from an empty cup and as a result, my relationships, business, motivation and health suffered severely. I was morbidly obese (tipping the scales at over 270 lbs) and just didn’t feel good about myself. I knew that something had to change or I would surely die! So in 2005, I did the BIG CHOP and started my journey to a healthier life. The big chop helped me to get rid of the chemicals that were making my hair unhealthy; I went to counseling to get rid of the negativity that was contributing to unhealthy thinking, and I started changed the way I look at food to get rid of the unhealthy relationship that I had with food.
I started Naptural Roots Magazine in 2006 to help promote natural hair and healthier living. Over the course of the next six years, I would learn more about healthy living through my journey as a publisher and entrepreneur. When I changed my life and started focusing on MY SELF-CARE, I saw how dangerous and unhealthy the skincare products that I used were to me as well as to my family. I started my journey to using healthier alternatives. That search and the lack of products for and by people who looked like me, motivated me to start my own self-care company in 2011, called Jordan’s Treasures, where I could control the ingredients that went on my body and in my products.
I realized that simply making and selling products was not enough. I had a passion to help women who were overworked and often underappreciated, learn how to make themselves a priority in their own life, establish their own authentic and meaningful self-care routines, love themselves unapologetically, and live their best lives out loud and with intention!
And from Jordan’s Treasures humble beginnings, Dolce & Lay was born in 2018! In an era where schedules trump wellness, priorities demand total sacrifice, and toxic chemicals are hurting us, I am inspiring my busy and stressed out sisters to take time out of their everyday schedules to practice self-care and experience a better quality of life. My goal is to help them give their best to those who need and rely on them by giving themselves the best self-care first. Today, I own three businesses that primarily focus on self-care, self-love, and self-development (Dolce & Lay, Naptural Roots Publishing, and Destination Diva Travel), and I provide companies with Management and Technical Consulting services.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road getting to this point in my life. I have had to sacrifice friends, family and even my own happiness at points to keep following the mission that God has given me. The life of an entrepreneur is sometimes one of loneliness and uncertainty. I have lived where there was more month than money and I didn’t know where my next meal or dollar was going to come from.
I have fought my way through depression at a time when I couldn’t even get myself out of the bed, let alone make products and fulfill orders. One large struggle I had was building an audience of supporters who know and love my product. Being an extroverted introvert by nature, I am not always comfortable being in the spotlight around new people. I had to learn how to step out of my comfort zone and put myself into the spotlight so that I can share my gifts with the world. I have always been a servant leader so I know I had something to share with the world, but I was too shy and too scared to share it.
As I was building my business, my home was broken into and I lost key supplies and equipment that was necessary for me to run my business. As a small business owner, I invest a lot into my business and to have it taken away was devastating and it took me a long time to build back up. But through all of my challenges and trials, I have never lost my faith in GOD and he has always brought me through it!
Dolce & Lay – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
At Dolce & Lay, I create personal pampering experiences for busy women that allow them to make themselves a priority in their own lives! My products are made from the best natural and organic ingredients that have been ethically sourced (and never tested on animals). My spa-quality products allow women to create a scared space for self-care where they can affirm and appreciate their value while enjoying a meaningfully consistent self-love experience. My goal is to help them show up fully in this world, authentically, unapologetically, and intentionally.
My signature Simple Balance System® is a combination of my pampering products and a guided experiences to support the women who often feel overwhelmed [by all their responsibilities] and underappreciated [by the world]. They are creating new self-care habits, making themselves a priority without feeling guilty, and thereby refreshing, resetting, and renewing their mind, body, and spirit. Dolce & Lay takes them on journey of self-care, self-love and rediscovery.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment of my career has honestly just come recently with the completion of my Simple Balance System: It is allowing me to connect with and support my sisters and brothers in a whole new way.
What started out as just a self-care products business has grown into a full service offering including:

3. The Soul Food Podcast: That is my twice monthly series that allows me to talk to my sisters about pressing issues in our community, within our families, and within ourselves. No topic is off-limits at my table.
4. The Self-Care Sisterhood Community is my new Facebook group where I am bringing women together in a safe and supportive environment.
5. Sacred Renewal Retreats (coming soon) where I will take self-care and self-love around the world and invite my sisters to come experience sisterhood and reconnection in a unique, new way.
