Today we’d like to introduce you to Lee Franklin.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Lee. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
The most challenging moment in my life was to come to grips with my own story… my life… my hurt… my pain and the betrayal of the sexual violations in my youth… it didn’t take long to succumb to the realization that I could become my worst enemy or I could overcome what could have potentially destroyed me… so I chose to live, forgive and write! I’ve decided to dedicate my life helping and encouraging others through literary and cinematic expressions of forgiveness, understanding, and empowerment… so they too can be free…
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There have been many great challenges along the way! I’ve been a writer all my life. My parents say that I was always a creative child. However, it was not until I survived a four-year spread of sexual violations by a family friend and cousin that life changed who I was internally. In that instance, I, who was normally an extrovert became introverted in the way of expression. Only through writing could I find a release. Well, life happened and I eventually put the pen down. One night I went to a church service and I was ignited to write all over again from that point I began to write my first stage production “The Refiner’s Fire” since that time I’ve been fortunate enough to become a published author and an award-winning filmmaker! In short, though challenges come and go but I love this. I am thankful for the gift I have been given and I really think I’ll do this forever!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Lee Franklin Film – what should we know?
My company is Lee Franklin Film. I specialize in storytelling! I don’t think I’m exactly known for any of my works just yet. However, if I had to pick I’d say I’m currently best known for my new docu-series “The Courage to Whisper”- Breaking the Silence a six-part series or my short film “Paramour” which I actually won an award for… I think I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve had many disappointments and no prior experience. Yet, I chose and I choose everyday to leap those barriers for an opportunity at greater!
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Oh my goodness! The list of those who have helped and encouraged me along the way is far too long. For that reason alone I won’t attempt to name them all as I would absolutely accidentally leave someone out. So my first thanks would go to the Lord Jesus Christ for life health and for making me a creative!!! Then it would be my husband Desmond, my children, my parents, my siblings, their spouses and all of the people that have been the wind beneath my wings be it cast or crew or those that taught me the concept of film making, those that continue to watch or read my projects and certainly my YouTube subscribers I owe my momentum to each of them. I could never take them for granted.
