Today we’d like to introduce you to Lillie Mae.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Lillie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As a student at UNC-Chapel Hill, I gained my first Public Relations experiences while interning for Universal-Motown Records, Atlantic Records, and Ogilvy PR. Upon relocating to Atlanta after graduation, a close-friend began managing an American Idol break-out star and asked I launch a PR campaign for him. This inspired me to create my own agency and the rest is history! Over the last decade, my agency work has included client placements on national television & radio platforms, USA Today, Huffington Post, Yahoo News and more. I’ve worked with a number of prestigious brands, celebrities, special events and business owners as well. Most recently I’ve also launched a new company division specifically to assist women entrepreneurs: www.GlamBoss.org
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Owning a business can definitely be a bit of a rollercoaster at times. One of the major struggles for me early-on was achieving a work-life balance. I was totally consumed with my business and missed a number of special moments with family and friends. However, with time, I realized that creating a team that you can trust is a key element in running a business successfully while balancing a quality personal life.
Lillie Mae PR – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Lillie Mae PR is a boutique agency that specializes in media relations, creative brand activations, and special events. We also create resources for emerging entrepreneurs including webinars, books, and masterclasses. We pride ourselves on helping business owners reach their goals and elevate their brand to the next level. What sets us apart is the level of innovation that we bring to each client’s project to help them take an idea from great to extraordinary.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I’m most proud of expanding my company to serve entrepreneurs beyond public relations efforts. Through the GlamBoss.org division, we provide resources that help business owners expand their income, reach more potential clients and grow their influence. In addition we offer an annual grant to a deserving entrepreneur as well as a licensing program that encourages overnight entrepreneurship.
