Meet Lisa Morris

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Morris.

Lisa, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have always been passionate about photography even as a young girl. I can’t remember a time in my life when I didn’t have a camera in my hand. Whether it was capturing God’s nature or people, I just always found myself drawn to freezing time through the lens and making art out of it! I originally went to school to become an elementary teacher, but after ten years of that, I decided to make a change and become a high school teacher. Almost instantly I went from doing a few shots here and there to shooting seniors three to four days per week as well as 1/2 dozen weddings per year. Well, that was six years ago. Now my business has grown more than I could have ever imagined. I do still teach at a local high school, but in the afternoons you will find me shooting seniors and most weekends spending my time with a couple about to embark on the journey of their life!

Has it been a smooth road?
Being a photographer is so rewarding, but is also a lot more work than some realize. My problem has never been having enough work as a photographer, but rather learning how to create work flow and manage my time.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
When most people hear “Lisa-Marie Photography” they probably automatically think high school senior photographers or wedding photographers. I shoot all genres, but I would consider those two areas to be what I am best at. What makes me proud and sets me apart? People often refer to me because they love my work. I take a lot of pride in the finished product and have been known to edit, then re-edit an entire gallery because I was not 100% pleased with the final product. I am a perfectionist when it comes to my photography. Another reason that I get referrals is because of my interaction with whomever I happened to be photographing. People tell me they love how personable I am and how comfortable I make them feel…..wedding clients also love how I can take control of a situation and get all the pictures they want even when the timeline doesn’t quite go as expected!

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Atlanta and the metro area is a great place to start! There are a lot of networking opportunities, which are so important in our industry. I would just recommend a newbie take advantage of the networking opportunities, shadow someone that is already in the industry, even ask an experienced photographer to tag along and carry their bags! You can learn so much from others.
